As collectors, in your Joeverse, do you prefer more of a traditional look to your Joes, ie ARAH/Renegades, a Modern era, ie ROC/Retaliation/POC, or a mix of both.

I want the modern Joe figures I get to look like they came out of the cartoon or comic book from '82-'87. I've been collecting since June and there aren't many left for me to get.

Traditional means the old way, right??? and Modern means now/new way, right??? not sure, so with what I think the meaning is
Traditional for me...but how many times can you make the same guy? so sooner or later they gots to go modern. Sometime there is mix of both that turns out nice, Cobra trooper for example (although Blue may not be practical) But it doesn't stop with just the toy, I love Traditional packaging too!

Hmmmmm, I think what I would like (In a perfect world) is remakes of all the figures with there original look. Like, Lowlight, Lifeline, Airtight, etc... Then once the original look has been done (And done well), make the figures with an updated look but with the feel of the original. In other words, when you look at them you know who they are even though they may not look exactly like the original. For example POC Beachhead, POC Dusty or even Renegades Scarlet.

Since 2007 I have collected 2 things:
1. Matching pairs of Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes in their different looks (25th, ROC, POC, Renegades, Resolute, etc.). 2. "25th style" figures, i.e. modern figures that look like the original figures or how the character appeared in comics/cartoons. I have been trying to get 1 of each character in their original/most definitive version. I like a lot of what the Club has been doing recently (like Eco Warriors, Cross Country, and the FSS). I like some of the 50th figures, but I already have most of those characters and I don't feel like spending a lot of money just to get better versions of them (like the SDCC Flint). From POC I loved Low Light and Crazylegs, but didn't buy many others. There were a lot of cool figures, but just to save money (and my sanity in some cases) I didn't try to track them all down, I just stuck with the original versions. I don't like it when we get a modern take on an old character without having the original look done first (Budo, Renegades Law & Order). If the line continues before the next movie, I think they need something like the POC/30th line. A mix of new characters, fresh takes on old favorites, and classic inspired versions of figures we haven't seen yet in the modern era. |

I totally agree with this. They can do whatever they want with the guy but before they do, they need to give us the original look first. IMO

Both. I don't turn my back on my old joes. I simply add the new figures to my existing display, and show both figures, new and old, side by side.

I like the modern updated look of old ARAH favorites, I'm also noticing how all Joes and Cobras are holding their rifles in a more realistic way with the butt of the rifle pointing up rather than the old school Rambo way of holding it which looks cool in movies but is the wrong way of holding it.
