What's the difference between having green shirts or steel brigade? They both serve the same purpose. Green shirts are a necessary part of GI Joe. In real life don't you think if there was a GI Joe team that evitably one or two just might get killed and need a replacement. To me I see them as elite infantry not quite up to par with Joe team. Kinda of like the army rangers fighting alongside the delta force.

Kingtiger that was not a fission bomb. That was a container filled with one of three catalytic elements. Radioactive but not a fission bomb. A simple dressing of leaves of herbs and Snake Eyes was none the worse.

I go back and forth on the greenshirt thing. On one hand I think Greenshirts detract from the "named" Joes. If the Joes are the best of the best, they become more heroic for having a smaller group fighting against the seemingly endless hordes of Cobra.
I don't really care about the Joes having all that "realistic" of a support structure. They're not very realistic to begin with. On the other hand...I've really liked the Steel Brigade and G.I. Joe Trooper figures. So...yeah. I try to find ways to work them into the Joe-verse that don't cheapen the Joes while still making them have a point. |

To me Official 'codenamed' Joes are more or less lifers granted dispensation from other branches of the service due to extraordinary merit or skill. They are special operatives.
The purpose of Greenshirts range from filling various support operations to regular combat troops. I like having a mass of troops and personnel on call on for whatever purpose: KP, Guard Duty, Motorpool, flight support, ordinance, Corpsmen, MPs...there's just not enough Joes in my mind to fill a credible organization. Typically they are almost always Enlisted men with ranks no greater than E-6 and are insubbordinate to official operatives in most normal circumstances, regardless of rank.

The Retaliation trooper is especially useful as a replacement for arctic characters. You wouldn't have Snow Job go on a jungle mission, but with a trooper you can just say it's him. With the ME figures, headswaps make that sort of thing easy. But the trooper makes it even easier if you just have him wear his helmet.

Well I pulled out my shout factory Mass device dvd to verify. Covergirl does say fusion bomb not fission which could be just hydrogen fuel not necessarily a thermonuclear device. And since the entire joe team wasn't wiped out I'm guessing it was just hydrogen fuel.
