I considered Airborne a HALO qualified Ranger who had seniority over Ripcord and Crazy Legs. I liked to keep those 3 together as a small squad who specialized in night time drops.

Hey guys, thanks for the thoughts on this. I always considered him a paratrooper/air assault type, he was one of my favorites as a kid, loved the CAR-15 which of course has now been superseded by the M-4. I think the 25th version is excellent and the Retaliation 3 Pack is a nice figure, just not Airborne to me.

Which is hilarious, as there's no MOS for "door gunner". Door gunners back in the old days were the crew chief and an enlisted man, later a volunteer, from the aviation unit. Door gunners on the Joe team should be green shirts. Wasting an airborne-qualified team member as a door gunner is typical dumb Joe shit.
If you look at Airborne's introduction in the comics as a commercial to sell products then he naturally went in the front seat of the Dragonfly which is where he was used in many a fights by me if a no thumbed guy like Zap was not available. (Zap piloted my second Dragonfly which always was shot down since it was missing a main rotor) Airborne is an infantryman with multiple additional skills such as being airborne qualified as well as air assault qualified. Actually, I expect all the Joes to be Airborne and many to be air assault school trained. Air Assault school training is more than just learning how to rappel from a hovering helicopter. Actually... when was the last time the US forces rappelled from a helo onto a target? Fast roping has been the method for probably 20 years now so Airborne as a "helicopter rappelling" Joe is obsolete.

Airborne and Wild Bill were always teamed up. Because they were the last present my Granma got for me before she passed away.

Airborne is probably in my top 10. Airborne Ranger, ready to get dropped wherever there's more danger...

isn't fast-roping the same thing as rappelling?
