The GI Joe brand is in no way dying. In fact, thanks to the movies it is thriving. Sure there are little to no product at retail but that is not a gauge of success or failure. The toy market is constantly changing. Right now it is in the summer time lull. As long as fans keep buying Hasbro will keep making. So do not fret, GI Joe is not dying anytime soon.

Far as I know, I didn't keep up with star wars toys too much the last year or year and half. But I think the last time they renewed the license was year or two before Disney got Star Wars and it was thru 2018.
Last October or November sometime around there, I read over at rebel scum that Disney hasn't been too impressed with Hasbro's sales. It probably had more to do with the Phantom Menace anniversary line peg warming than anything else. But yeah the sales haven't been that great and Disney is not happy. They also put a bunch of restrictions on what Hasbro and can and can not make for star wars. They were saying Hasbro had to cancel a bunch of stuff because of it. Supposely that is why there is so little Hasbro star wars stuff in stores now. They've had to play catch up and get new Disney approved products made. The one bit of good news is that at SDCC Hasbro is rumored to be showing off a large amount of new star wars stuff, even a new large 3 3/4'' scale vehicle. Star Wars, Marvel and TF seem to be good money-makers for them, way better than GI Joe I'm sure. I guess it all depends what they want to focus on, but as long as they keep making the movies I'm sure they'll be around.

It's already slowed down in retail, but it won't die off as long as the Club keeps having conventions and making new figures. I think Hasbro is going to do limited retail runs, but we'll still have some out in the wild.
Then if the movie actually gets made and is released in 2015, I think they'll do another movie toy line. So it isn't dead yet. |

I cant find 3 inch Marvel or Black Series 3 inch Star Wars ANYWHERE anymore for well over a year now. I think action figures in general and the good scale action figures in particular are just either going through a low point or may actually be over for while. Which is kinda fine by me because it will give me time and energy to and money to spend on getting classic vehicles and characters I am missing.
I feel like it will all come back some day but it seems like its all dead now. Last edited by WarinThefloor; 06-18-2014 at 04:56 PM.. |

I don't know how many times I've seen parents when their kids are bored they turn on the t.v. or hand them an electronic device. Would be nice to see them hand the kids a bucket of Legos or action figures and let them use their imagination. |

Parents do that because they are to lazy to actually play with the Kids, usually becaus eteh parents themselves are absorbed with their face in a TV computer or phone screen. But since I play with toys my boy plays with them with me. He doesnt care as much about action figures as he does vehicles but he's 3 so...
