Yeah that always drives me nuts. Theirs an episode (Or 9) that the cockpit of the Rattler fits like 4 guys with extra room to walk around.

I wanted the cartoon and the comics to meet the expectations I had with the images I saw on the card/box art and read in the file cards...but unfortunately they went their own direction for sake of story arc or creative license.
Here are a few of my favorite ARAH artwork:

It used to be Marvel comics combined with filecards.
Now it is a confused mix - IDW did such a great job with the Cobra series, and that combined with the impossibility of Vietnam veteran era soldiers still running around in 2014 means that I've embraced the idea of creating my own Joeverse a little more. One of the interesting changes for me is that I've gone from being into G.I.Joe and using Cobra as the antagonists, to mostly being fascinated by Cobra and Joe itself has sort of become an afterthought. I like the concept of Cobra being a sizeable military force with all sorts of specialist troops - it appeals to the army builder in me I guess. |

My own that started with filecards/comics as a base.
My CC is competent, not buffoonish, like in the cartoons and comics.

The Marvel (and now IDW's ARAH) comics and the file cards- all the Hama stuff, I guess. I do like the DDP, IDW, Resolute, Renegades, and movie-verse stuff as "alternate" versions of Joe, but the original Marvel stuff and the file cards pretty much outlined most of the adventures I'd act out with the toys when I was a kid.
The Sunbow cartoon was ridiculous, even when I was 8 years old. I do get a morbid, somewhat masochistic kick out of watching it nowadays, however...I usually throw an episode or 2 on at like 2am on the weekends for some laughs. |

the marvel UK comics as a kid.
these days, i operate on a continuity of my own for my fan-fic which blends together MUK's comics, MUS comics, Battle Action Force comics, my own stories (obviously) and bits from the con set filecards. and it's strictly in the 1980s/90s. |

A little of everything. It was a primary combination of the comic and filecards for me. The cartoon provided the soundtrack in my head.
