Again I don't put all the weight on "character development." In many cases the figure and file card are all the character development a particular figure needed to make an impact. |

Sci-Fi and Barbecue were pretty distinctive characters in the Sunbow toon. Blowtorch much less so, but I think he's also being hurt by the fact everyone's disappointed in his rerelease in the 50th line. I understand him being at the bottom of the 1984 pack but I don't think I want to see any carded figure through 1985 not make the top 100.
Again I don't put all the weight on "character development." In many cases the figure and file card are all the character development a particular figure needed to make an impact. File card plays a role for sure. But if say Blowtorch has a great figure and filecard, and by comparison say Wild Weasel has a great figure, filecard, and awesome appearances in comics, then Wild weasel places above regardless IMHO. Some of the New Sculpt characters have had far more development in media than some of the ARAH guys. That said, there are a lot that still need to have more add-in votes than they currrently do. |

I don't think that that group is as bad as you make out
Grunt had a good character ark in the original Marvel Run, and should place in the late 50s to mid 60s. Zanya will be interesting to see the outcome of, but depending how much people liked her in DDP, I could see becoming a popular choice. Flash has never really had all that much development, but as the original laser trooper could get some love. Headman has a cult following and some good appearances in Marvel. Shooter was a great addition to the mythos in G.I. Joe Declassified, so I can see her placing in the mid 60s quite fairly. Big Ben will probably get in because of the unique british aspect, the cool figure, and the coming FSS3 version of him. Skidmark was well developed in the Cobra Wars book. Should't win yet, but not as bad a choice as people are complaining. Interrorgator, Grand Slam, Steel Brigade I have a hard time defending, but perhaps others can elaborate more. I don't think any have ever had much development that I'm aware of. And Grand Slam will likely be hurt due to the reaction to hi most recent figure. Of your add in list there are some great ones (tripwire, Airtight, Footloose and Billy most noticibly), but even if I don't re-iterate my opinion on troop builders in this poll, Steeler, Sci-Fi, Blowtorch and BBQ, while they all have awesome figures, don't eem to have ever had much development either. |
