With the 50th tru exclusives dropping I had a thought the other day. I don't necessarily want all the figures but I am going to buy all of them and I'm going to buy multiples, not just of troop builders (which I will do many of) but I really want to support the brand. I DONT want to leave the pegs warming at TRU as a big F&@k YOU. Which is what it could feel like if there's not brand support from collectors. I'm not putting it on our shoulders to make TRUs decision a success, but I would really hate to see it bomb and think "wow we really didn't support that line until it made it to Ross..."
Anyway, I was just curious about other peoples thoughts as this exciting release approaches. |

Are people actually planning on leaving joes pegwarming as a "f*ck you" to TRU? That seems incredibly stupid not to mention counter-productive. The 50th line is going to sell just fine. Personally, i'm more concerned about what the production numbers will be.

I will pick up most if not all of the 50th stuff. I am pumped for most of it....I just wish they substituted an ARAH coloured Charbroil for yet another Blowtorch, and that the traditional Flint/VAMP mk II were the TRU released set.

I guess it also depends on how many of the 50th sets they make. I remember people saying the same thing about the Eaglehawks when they came out but I think they made a lot more than we figured. The 50th will probably be different since TRU is the only player in the game and they're geared towards collectors. I plan on buying some figures, but my worst fear is that they'll be so hard to find a lot of us will be disgruntled at TRU, Hasbro and scalpers.

Very true. My advantage lies in the fact that there aren't too many collectors or scalpers up my way, so with a little luck , and decreased competition, I should hopefully get most (if not all) of what I am looking for.

1 set of everything. If I don't want it, my son gets it. Oh, 2 sets of the destro 3 pack, because that's literally the one figure my son wants. I have a feeling I'll be lucky if I can find that.

I don't think fans leaving 50th Joes "pegwarming" will necessarily be taken as a "f*ck you" to TRU. It's just like any other product they sell. When multiple Barbies are sitting on the shelves, I don't think TRU or Mattel worry about it too much. They can't honestly believe that popular items will fly off the shelves in hours, that's not to say it doesn't happen, but it's not the norm. Collector's and non collector's will buy what they want... that's really all there is to it. For example, the Blowtorch/HEAT Viper two pack does not appeal to me, so I will probably pass on it. However, the three packs with Destro and the grey Viper do, I would love to pick up at least one of each.
