I just finished watching Son of Batman with my son and it was awesome. The first ten minutes featured a very bloody assault on Ra's Al Ghul's mountain stronghold with a group of ninja trained warriors who also used guns fighting the martial arts trained League of Assassins. Anyway, it was very bloody and action packed and I was thinking how it could be Arashikage in-fighting.
My point is how great if maybe Hasbro could team up with an animation studio and do PG-13 straight to video movies like these. The character design is realistic with minimal stylization and the art and backgrounds are impeccable. I know I'm not the first one to bring this up but I just wanted to share my thoughts. |

been saying this for awhile. Then it can be what all the old school Joe fans really want, a more mature themed show. at least PG13+ like you said.
then give the kiddos and awesome kreo toon for television based heavily on arah to bring the two generations together… also some good GI Joe vs Transformers movies straight to Blueray as well.

I think an animated Joe vs. Transformers animated movie could kill our fragile geek minds. Especially (in my humble opinion) the WWII based miniseries.

resolute, a series of 5 minute toons originally aired on adult swim, was well received, but they could do better.

when i watched 'Son of Batman' my first thought was it looked like the folks who did 'Resolute' was the one responsible for its design/animation. Deathsroke looked like SE minus the visor IMO. I liked it very much.

Yes, we need more straight to DVD adult themed or more mature Gi Joe movies!

"Mature" doesn't mean "bloody"... Personally, excessive violence would turn me off a GI JOE toon. Guess that's why I like RENEGADES so much; it was mature in it's storytelling and characterisation rather than the growling machismo and violence of RESOLUTE.

I don't necessarily mean that gore is the answer. Just that the animation was so good and the imagery evoked what I'd love to see GI Joe to be. DC has consistently put out the very best in straight to video animated movies for the last 7 years. They adapt graphic novels and comic story arcs and though they are all too short, the story telling is still top notch.

I'd prefer it if Hasbro could produce a Joe toon kids would like so I could walk into Toys R Us and buy new Joe figures for $6 each instead of having to go online and spend an arm and a leg for Joes.
