I threw them all away outside of a single issue that I had a letter in bitching about hasbro's quality of ML figures when they first took that line over from toybiz. I really liked the early issues (starting way back in the 'Holiday Special' or whatever....) but the final year (s) it just wasn't very good- i was really just buying it out of habit and was doing little more than flipping through it and tossing it in the trash. But early-on... what a great, fun time it was having a magazine dedicated to Toys that wasn't just about market value.

I still have a few Toyfare stashed away that had Joe, SW or TF articles in them. I miss them too.

I have been reading articles all evening. There sure where a lot of toys that never made it to the pegs and shelves. So many good memories.

I was just thinking about Toyfare a couple of days ago. Reminiscing about learning about upcoming potf2 figures before there was a world wide web. Traveling to toy shows with the hope of finding the right vintage joes. It was so exciting to stumble upon bits of news about action figures or discovering pieces of childhood memories. It was all so private and random.
Not that I mind finding stuff on ebay. It's a lot easier these days to build an impressive collection... |

I have almost every issue minus 125, 126,127,128, and 129. I missed those issues because I was in and out of the hospital back them and had no way to get to a store to buy them. Oh well, maybe one day I will find them and complete my magazine collection.

I wish I still had my toyfair magazines. Some magazines I will always like. Shame Shonen Jump lost my love after the first year. Wish they still made Raijin comics, Toyfair and a few others....

Yes, I greatly miss Toyfare magazine as well. I remember how DELIGHTED I was when action figure collecting magazines began publishing in the early 1990's.
By the way, is Lee's Toy Review still being published? Or Tomart? |

I used to subscribe to ToyFare and Lee's. It was the default mode for dope before the internet went nova.
Lee's attempted a comeback in November, but from a quick survey it looks like it may not have paid off. Their website is down, for one: http://www.leestoyreview.com/ Tomart's looks out of date too, but their web store is still apparently taking subscriptions: http://tomart.com/webstore/index.php...roducts_id=147 Little Plastic Men is a nice, new webzine that fits the bill pretty well: http://littleplasticmen.com/ Last edited by TheRealDubya; 05-05-2014 at 05:29 PM.. |
