I don't think it's a bad move at all. $44 for a year works out to $3.66 a month, I'm sure most pay more 1 time at Taco Bell.
You get a figure and you get the magazine. Most people here have stated that they don't think the magazine is worth much, but I enjoy it. I like having stuff like this in print in hand and sometimes the covers are really cool. (Anyone who doesn't want their older newsletters can always PM me). You also get the option to sign up for things such as the FSS, JoeCon, and buy other things from the store itself. I think with the Club adding vehicles as an "add on" option to the incentive figure is really cool. It really comes down to whether it's worth it to you or not. I think it's great and will easily drop $44 a year for the forseeable future in order to enjoy the benefits I do get. |

Hasbro would need to re-invent the line to get kids into it and that costs money. Of course, who knows if it will work. So, they keep putting money into TF, which feels the smarter move. Frankly, I can't blame them. |

dont get me wrong, I am happy that we have a way to get figures since hasbro no longer cares. My primary issue I guess is I dont like the idea of having to buy a membership inorder to buy products from the club. I believe if one wants to buy something they should be able to buy it and not have to buy the "right" to buy something. I just feel its a little shady to IMO ( you may think it is fine) to charge the 44 under the guise of a membership. I would rather call a spade a spade and just charge me 44 straight for cross country if thats what they want to do, or break up the charge of the club membership and put it across the fig sub. OR do what matty does and charge a huge amount for shipping!
none of this is right but hey I would rather someone be straight up and say "i am screwing you out of money" than saying "buy a special membership" just my take. But YES YES YES i am greatful that there is a club and we have some options even if it means paying more. ALso some of hte club figures are very very nice. and they are offical products. P.S. would love to see more 3rd party stuff.....to give some competition.

Yeah, they have this covered already. I tried ordering convention comics during the sale. They wanted to charge something like $15 shipping for 8 comics.
Seconded. Competition is good. |

I think the third party companies are starting to take hold. I personally support Acid Rain, and Marauder's project. But there's Toy Notch and the company doing the 4" Alien Figures. I think pretty soon hasbro will probably shift to 6" and more 3 3/4" figures will come out. There's a 4" Solid Snake coming out too IIRC.

I tried. I keep getting kicked out and sent to the Transformers Club since I'm a member of that. Seems like the system won't let me join both.

This year is my first year as a GIJCC member as well, looking forward to getting my Cross Country. I do also like the comics in the monthly magazine.
