So I think those 10 for me rank higher than the others. After that would be variants like Tan Clutch, dress blue Gung Ho, LAF Trip Wire, and the missing TF members, NF members, Mauraders, etc. When looking at those variants I also work into my ranking criteria rather or not they released their v1 on a 25th style card. I'm mostly a loose collector, but whenever a figure is released on a 25th style card I need one to keep MOC and hang on my wall. So if there is a character missing from my 25th MOC display that is another factor that gets incorporated into how high I prioritize getting their alternate version (since that could be a second chance to get a carded version of that character with 25th style art). So for instance seeing as Clutch never had a 25th carded figure, Tan Clutch would actually rank pretty high for me since that's a potential chance to get a carded Clutch with 25th art. On the other hand since we already have two 25th carded versions of Roadblock, I would actually rank TF Dusty, TF Recondo, and TF Lifeline over TF Roadblock, just because we still don't have those 3 characters on a 25th card. Ditto with LAF Tripwire, he would rank below some other variants just because he 's a character already available with 25th card art. Quote:

Don't have a category for New Sculpt variants currently. Presuming we get a bunch of these in my current lists I suppose eventually I would relabel my ARAH variant look category to just a general variant look category (this would then include New Sculpt looks, IDW looks, Renegades looks, ROC President Zartan, etc). Also since I wasn't collecting at the time I'm less familiar with new sculpt era figures. I've read all the comics and learned about the characters from that era, but I'm still not educated enough on all the new sculpt variants and alternate looks from that era, and as a result those variants currently don't really jump up on my radar as "missing" from M.E. for me.

Add Grunt please. The iconic character on the Marvel masthead. Leaves GI Joe to go to college. Comes back when joes are disbanded and on the run.

I didn't really get into joes until 87. I could still find 86 joes in the stores but that's it. That said, 89 RnR and Stalker were my defaults, same with 91 duke, TF Flint and TF Bazooka. So I get your personal nostalgia reasons. Even though I had 86 Hawk and never had 91 Hawk, he wasn't a repaint and was unique enough from the other Hawks we've gotten that he would be high on my list to get. Also, did you know Banzai and Bushido are brothers? Neither would be too high on my list, but I'd want both if I were to get one.

In general I gave more priority to unique characters who are completely absent from our M.E. collection. With so many missing completely I only gave 10 spots for character variants. The first priority for selecting those top 10 was rather or not we were missing an iconic look for a character. The 7 characters who are still missing their version 1 figure were obvious choices. That left 3 spots. I chose Rock N Roll v2 because I think that's actually a more iconic look for him. I chose Stalker v2 because 1) I think that's a cool figure and 2) since I never had v1 Stalker this was my default Stalker as a kid. I chose that 90s Duke because while not as iconic as his v1 this was the common look for Duke in the 90s and it was a pretty heavily featured costume in various 90s Joe media (commercials, cartoons, etc).

I actually had Crosshairs in my 11th spot for the New Sculpt category. I could definitely see a strong case for swapping him in for Talbot. Wild Card was in my 26th spot so he was close. At the end of the day I have a slight personal bump to Steam Roller just because I had the Mobile Command Center as a kid but not the other 2 vehicles.
