Yes, you have to be professional and serious to be CC's bodyguards. You can't just get in, but at the same time, how can a cg be equivalent to a joe film-man? |

Crimson Guard = Siegies Their job was to infiltrate any position of power or usefulness. They were not bodyguards per se. It was smart for him to be inserted as a member of GIJOE as a "joe film man" which by the way was what the 1945 movie was all about, who would suspect him?

Which issue was that? I don't follow the Cartoon for official character development. So to me Scoop was never a CG. But he was a journalist which doesn't seem to fit an elite covert team. His character is out of place. then there is the yellow which also doesn't fit an elite combat unit.

if people never read the comics till late and their sole joe experience was the cartoon they have different characters to base it on since the comics and cartoons were vastly different. i didn't get into the comics first when i played with my joes with friends it was mostly cartoon based since that's what we mostly got our inspiration from. you can't really pick and choose it's almost like we have to look at it from a whole. the character spread across all forms of media. so based on all forms of media he appeared the general idea is scoop sucks. besides wasnt scoop only in like that one issue? in the cartoon it was a whole mini series of scoop to hate on. and if that one issue is enough to redeem scoop then i vote snake eyes is a total wash since he got bitch slapped straight out of the movie by a cobra la guard....elite ninja commando my ass.

I always wondered about this - Mercer joins GI Joe after escaping from Cobra Island, and pretty soon is E-5. Then just a couple of years later, he's E-9.
It made me think that Mercer must have been in the U.S. military, and then joined Cobra after discharge. If he were allowed to join GI Joe with some credit based on his previous pay grade, that might explain why he moved up so fast. When you are pinned down by enemy fire and an airstrike would really be nice, we will see how useless you find the guy with the radio. LOL

the same reason comic people only reference comics not cartoons: it was their main source of gi joe content.

I missed a good portion of the issues from 86-91 right when Special Missions was at it's height. I always loved the Special mission issues. I'll have to check it out. I alwasy felt like Scoop would have made a better Computer expert or another Radio guy. In my verse he hangs back at headquarters Information center with Mainframe and Sgt. Hacker and Harddrive. (Although Harddrive might be one of those super Joes when you look at his qualifications. )
