I've been on a "Comandos em Ação" kick lately and have been delving into other realms for less conventional characters to choose for my own personal definitive GI Joe/Cobra/et al roster. It got me wondering: who are some of your own personal favorite characters outside of those officially licensed by Hasbro and within the various comics and cartoons that have been available since 1964? I believe some of the Canada Con exclusives aren't OL, and there's a shit-ton of custom created figures out there. What about fanfic?
Discuss.

I'm obviously a tad bias towards my own fanfic characters, but I'm going to ignore those and instead pick Joe Cabuck's canuckleheads.

I'm not sure where the GI Joe Collector's Club characters fall - I was under the assumption that any figures they produced would have been licensed by Hasbro, but there are characters within the club magazine that are probably in an area more grey than the actual figures.
There are also other characters from the 1980's "Find Your Fate" books, that while a little bland could also be utilized. Find Your Fate book series - G.I. Joe Wiki - Joepedia - GI Joe, Cobra, toys Here's an archive from Yojoe.com that lists all the FYF books as well as a multitude of other books: YOJOE.COM | Books and Audio Recordings

Aw, don't be that way. Share links. I try to keep up on what's going on creatively on this site and others but there are only 24 hours in a day, and a lot of that is spent sleeping and working. The more original and interesting the better. I've seen a lot of interesting worlds created by others to supplant the GI Joe brand into - some of my favorites being the WWII-themed and post-apocalyptic ones.

G.I.JOE - Heroes and Terrorists Advance warning, there's a lot already written (about 250,000 words), I've actually been on hiatus for around a year. But I'm getting back at it now, so new reader are definitely welcome. It's set about 20 years in the future with G. I. Joe as an international counterterrorism force formed to counter Cobra which is a much more legitimate threat in this version.

I know that crossing into that territory will create even more havoc in ever seeing the end of my work, but there's already established continuity crossovers from Transformers and MASK. Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Predator, Terminator, Aliens, etc... All of these could easily conform to roll on into GI Joe continuity.

Most currently have focused on established characters, with the original ones mixed into the stories that have larger casts. (A deliberate choice to hook in readers, not going to lie)
But I'm particularly proud of one name Badger. (Appeared in: 06/24/2033 - Mushroom Mushroom, 09/26/2034 - Defection) And has his own thread: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...errorists.html Also, there's a group of greenshirts who get promotions who are well liked (Appeared in: 04/18/2034 - Twilight, 04/24/2034 - New York City) |

I've only been collecting the GI Joe Collectors Club magazine for the last two years, but I've found some of the characters created for it are interesting enough to try to insert into my own personal version of GI Joe. A sample of some them:
- Man of the Sea (Thomas Devlin, ex-Royal Marines) - Mike Triumph (Adventure Team Commander candidate, endorsed by Joe Colton) - Debra Cooper (CIA) - “Mad” Jack Weatherly (President of Aquarius) - Aloysius “Digger” Muldoon (international smuggler of antiquities [related to Major Bludd]) - Man of Evil (MARS Corp. Henchman, Karl [last name unknown]) - Black Dragon Leader (Sebastian Gorman)

I've been leaning heavily towards utilizing characters from Jonny Quest to mingle with the Adventure Team-era in the 1970's. I've also been planning on using elements of the Venture Brothers in the same manner, who also used Jonny Quest as well. Venture Industries would fit in nicely, and spans from the mid-60's to the present.
