I've been buying and selling toys since 1996. Toy collecting is very much an addiction. I've sold everything off many times only to start back again a year or a few months down the road. My latest binge is the SW 6" figures. Then a friend of mine was selling his entire POTF collection and it was game on. I've never been able to find a happy medium. I hate storing everything in totes but I also hate having it all on display. When it's on display it's just a constant reminder of all the money spent. Plus I always feel the need to buy more. With it in totes I think why even bother if I'm just gonna keep it stored away. I can't win either way.

Mine has evolved into a room I don't go into and a hobby I think about often but rarely ever do anything with. I still love GI Joe but have grown tired of collecting and tracking down figures and so on and so forth. As far as its constant changing status. I think if it gets stale its time to move on. A collection of anything has to evolve. or else its just stuff in your house.

I started out collecting only things I liked, then I became an ME ARAH remake completist, then I became a best of breed. Now I don't know. I'm contemplating keeping just 82-86 complete with picks here and there from 87 - 92 that I liked. I have sold things that I bought because I couldn't justify keeping it at the cost its going for. I'm having trouble now with whether I should keep ROC/POC/RET stuff I bought that isn't part of ARAH remakes. This gets especially hard when you're not sure if HASBRO/Club etc views a figure as already released. example NF Shockwave from RoC. In the end you should probably just keep what makes you happy and sell the rest. Someone posted that collecting things that you had as a kid is a way to go because the nostalgia lasts longer for those items, than something new that seems momentarily cool.

Ever changing.
I boxed everything up to finish the display room. Unbox some stuff to re-organize. Add more boxes. Repeat.

My collection has Definately evolved. Fortunately though I'm able dissy almost all of it. I went from selling all of my joes in 97 (as a HS junior) getting back into it after finding the JvC 2-packs, and have since expanded to ARAH and modern Joes, transformers classics, marvel legends, DC classics, 200x motu, marvel universe, a handful of SW sith and bounty hunters, and some random nostalgic pieces. I probably have 2000+ figures and 90% of then are on display.
