I used to think that G.I. Joe had no business with any other enemy than fighting Cobra or other similar terrorist groups. I never liked the sci-fi aspect and cherished the 1982-1985 stuff because of the Military aspect.
Now, I am thinking it is not so bad as the military fighting terrorist aspect is getting stale. I am kind of hoping that the new direction of G.I. Joe goes into a more sci-fi, Adventure Team, monster hunter, post-apocalypse survival and perhaps, space adventure aspect, as I think that it could extend the franchise greatly. You could even add in time-travel. By adding these elements, that is not to saying that Cobra, M.A.RS., The Dreadnoks, and even the Red Shadows will not be part of this. In fact, I think that they could greatlty add to the strory rather than just sticking with the World Domination Plot. I think that movies and television shows like Aliens, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, The Terminator, The Last Starfighter, The Walking Dead, Escape From New York, Preditor, Jurassic Park, The Thing, Godzilla, Back to the Future, Star Trek, Blade Runner and Mad Max have greatly influenced my thoughts on the subject.

Adventure Team or a more futuristic would be cool.

This day and age, a mix up of everything.
Maybe even some stand alone stories focusing on certain ideas set outside of continuity. |

Disappointed Modern Military themed isn't on the list. I'm tired of seeing this futuristic side from Gijoe. It's tried and old. You want toys to sell? Appeal to the masses. What's popular now? Call of Duty, Battlefield. Make figures that actually look like something we would see in the real world.

I can deal with it all, except post apocalyptic and time travel. I've always thought of joe as a step ahead of current tech, so sci-fi doesn't bother me. But, time travel leads to a tangled web of story lines that can become impossible to follow, and post apocalyptic is too limiting, with destruction of past progress and too many limits on future resources.

The more you throw into the mix, the more NEW characters we end up with because frankly, G I joe and Cobra both need new blood and diversity........

I have always had an element of time travel in my Joeverse. There was even a special Cobra time travel trooper, the Chrono-Viper.

Agreed, I wouldn't mind seeing the cast of characters that we've all grown to love slowly retired or killed off. I would like to break away from the constraints of snake eyes/storm shadow, cobra commander/Destro/baroness/Serpentor, Duke/Scarlett, and bring in the next generation of characters. Let Kamakura or Jinx evolve against slice, dice, shadow strike, or Vypra. I'd like to see a Krake figure. I'd also like to see all the new sculpt era figures get some story time.
