No, that's where Joes came from. Back in the 80's I grew up watching the cartoons on TV and they had a futuristic appeal to me. I thought they used enough sci fi to get your imagination running!! I love Sci Fi, so don't have a problem with Joes fighting zombies, monsters or aliens!

Yes!!!! That will always be the reason I like ROC more than Retaliation, cheesy scifi alludes to the cartoon.

I like a blend of the two, and while I really liked Retaliation, the ROC did make me feel like they just brought the cartoon to life...

i don't mind bleeding edge military tech, like exosuits and particle rifles with back-pack power sources. i draw the line at ****in' aliens and zombies.

I don't mind wacky looking vehicles but ones that looks impractical bother me a little. The Trubble Bubble for instance should have its jets one on either side to be balanced properly.

Come on, now, if we're gonna pine for the days when our beloved franchise enjoyed damn-near global popularity, we can surely be understanding when our brother in Rio de Janeiro doesn't quite type in the King's English. Speaking only for myself, sevenlima communicates much more effectively in English than I can hope to communicate in a second language!
To answer sevenlima's question, I remember reading a letter to the editor in an old issue (not that there are new issues anymore) of Toyfare complaining about the changes during the latter era of the Joe property. Toyfare rightly responded by noting that the ostensibly realistic first series in 1982 featured such hard-line military hardware as jetpacks. G.I. Joe had aliens and Bulletman and abominable snowmen and the like before A Real American Hero existed. Science fiction will always be a component of G.I. Joe. |

G.I. Joe has always had sci-fi elements to it, and it wasn't just in the cartoon. The comic had heavy sci-fi influences right from the very beginning.
G.I. Joe has never been a realistic military brand. I do think that some stuff went to far across the line for my personal tastes, but to say there is no sci-fi in Joe is silly.
