But the didn't all slowly go insane. In many ways that's worse than being executed. Just to make Cobra-La more "credible?" No, don't see Hasbro going for it, once again.
Absolutely none of this corroborates that Cobra-La was in any way "Lovecraft inspired." Find a quote from a Hasbro designer or you're just seeing something that isn't there. "Discussing it on Hisstank" doesn't make it a fact, just speculation. But by all means, do tell what elements of Cobra-La you think were specifically Lovecraft inspired? And if the creation of Cobra-La wasn't directly influenced by Lovecraft's tales of eldritch horrors, then they were most likely inspired by something else that had been inspired by Lovecraft. He pretty much created his own genre with a few nods to his own inspirations, such as Lord Dunsany, Algernon Blackwood and Edgar Allen Poe, which were mostly influential by the moods they set. If you can't see the connections between the Great Old Races, between the insectile alien race of Mi-Go, the desolate mountainous regions of the Himalayas similar to the Antarctic mountains of madness, then I can't make you see it. But to me it's fairly clear that elements of Cobra-La could be supplanted into a modern work of fiction that draws from parts of Lovecraft's writing, of which many modern authors still regularly contribute. Some is good, some is not so much, and some is incredible. Which is what the comic I was asking about would be, if I had any input into the creation of such a thing. And I was merely trying to initiate a stimulating conversation with others who might have ideas to share on the subject. Not have to reiterate myself again and again to try to refocus this thread, which seems to be totally lost now.

I don't particularly care for Cobra-la - in the original series.
But that's all done and gone. I can pretend the movie never happened (along with several episodes). Now? I am completely uninterested in whatever boring GI Joe vs Cobra take Devil's Due or IDW or whatever decides to do. I would LOVE to see a completely different take. That was one of the reasons why I actually enjoyed Renegades, and am looking forward to this Club "Zombieverse" set/continuity. I mean, why not? It's not like they're doing anything super-successful by sticking (somewhat) to the same old formula...
