I remember the Joe isle was like a sea of joe's. GI Joe had their own isle. Now I can't find a joe at a toy store to save my life. I guess we can file that under nothing good lasts forever.

I want those days again! I saw zero joes in the toy aisles this Christmas! Just plain sad.

As far as Star Wars goes, I did see this exact type of display at Toys R Us this weekend, haha. The AT-AT and X-Wing in their vintage packaging looks so good. Why they don't keep going with that style for Joes too is BEYOND me!

was a wonderful time, and man, just think, you could put yourself through college with that toy aisle now.

THANKS to the OP for posting this picture. This is a Real Christmas treat. I used to work retail and my boss used to take pictures of our department once it was all setup before customers came in.
I always think to myself how I wish more toy stores in the 1980s and 1990s took pictures of the toy aisles. This is so cool to see another Awesome 1980s toy department display. I am not a huge SW fan but I do appreciate seeing MOC SW figures and MISB vehicles. I would love if there was another picture somewhere showing more of the Joe figures. Does anyone have an idea which toy store or department store this was at? |

Thanks for sharing. It reminds me of growing up. That Star Wars display is very rare, it goes for a couple thousand dollars now.
Its tough to make out but you can see boxed, Hiss Tanks, Wolverines, RAM Cycles,Whirlwind cannons and Skystrikers as well as the 1982-1983 GI JOE figures. 1983 would be the last year that Star Wars would dominate the toy aisles. By the next year GI Joe and Transformers would close the gap. 1983-1986 were just a great time to be a kid and buy toys IMO.
