well i think if resolute/modern era were to be released alongside the movie stuff more folks would buy resolute/classic stuff than movie stuff as at least resolute has individuality of the characters and they aint all uniform, which, side formt he obvious frack ups the movie has made, is a huge issue for many a fans myself included. but hasbro wants us to like their stupid movie stuff so they give us no choice but to buy movie joe stuff and throw the good stuff, ie 7 packs, up as online exclusives. and as for whats ins tores clogging pegs...well just look at the priices. when singles were 4.88-5.99 they couldnt keep em on sheleves same with cp's at 9.99. if they lowered the prices on this stuff instead of gouging us the shit would move alot more.

The problem is we are not going to have the Transformers 25th line for much longer. If you all remember what they did with the first movie was get us collectors all hot and bothered with the first "classics" line and then drop it like a sack of Insecticon parts the moment the movie toys came out. Its all about marketing and herding us to be interested in TFs again so people will buy the cheaply made movie dung they will saturate the shelves with.
I fell for it once, we all did and again they have released a handful of nice toys only to clearance them out to drop the movie &^%&$#^&$^ on us. As with all their lines, Hasbro will always stand behind their flimsy excuse of children for what they do but as we all know in ALL their lines (TFs, SW, Joe) its us BIG kids with credit cards that really pay their bills. Kids didn't make the 25th line float it was us and now they are going to use our money to fund their agenda (ie Movie crap) and when that runs out like it did before with the TF Movie they will come back to us, the core money spenders telling us how we are so important and its us they really care about. My bank tells me the same s^&t all the time.... As for Resolute, its a hard sell to kids due to its rating and time slot so they will say it was a flop but I don't see any advertising for the show or the toys so what do they expect? Lets remember a time when action figures were KING, a time when any moment on any channel had a toy commercial playing showing us the newest and coolest. Those times have past I guess. ....end rant.

It is not rocket science but I do believe you are over simplifying the issue.
I am not a brand manager, I have no market research at my disposal, I have not been in the toy industry for over half a century and I am not currently stewarding the two largest action figure lines. We all have our wants and desires but if you are using this forum as a litmus test for what should Hasbro do I'm afraid it's quite biased. As much as we want to believe we have a huge impact on sales we don't. Our buying power is nothing compared to kids and their parents.

Not that this thread is guilty (well, as guilty), but i never understand how anyone thinks name-calling will get their message acted upon... I would like to think that my owning nearly 200 cobra blueshirts makes me important, but i know i'm nothing compared to 10,000 kids with one trooper each... :( |

I'm simply stating that with Resolute we got 3 carded singles, 2 comic packs and 1 multi-pack and 0 news of any further figures or vehicles to continue (Resolute could be considered an adult themed line, and I am a parent), but there is so much that could be tapped with Resolute, that cannot be tapped with the movie line, Even if resolute was an online collection like the DTC and was offered thru a venue like online stores or Master Collector it would give more variety to the brand than just the Movie line (I'm all to happy to buy both), as I'm sure many of us would if given the oppertunity. I'm not Hasbro, I don't attend the board meetings I do own 55 shares of Hasbro stock and buy more every chance I get......(but I'm not the guy who makes the choices, but you have to admit, star wars fans, and transformers fans have more choices than we do, that's what I'm trying to say in a nutshell.

The only resolute figures I liked were Tunnel Rat and Shockwave, and they were done in their ARAH style. Honestly I have no use for resolute or RoC toys. Just give me the modern era stuff.

And they don't almost constantly complain about "Hasblow"...
Not that this thread is guilty (well, as guilty), but i never understand how anyone thinks name-calling will get their message acted upon... I would like to think that my owning nearly 200 cobra blueshirts makes me important, but i know i'm nothing compared to 10,000 kids with one trooper each... :( Now that I think about it, I wonder how people who grew up with the barbie doll GI Joes reacted to the introduction of the ARAH age. Good thing they didn't have the internet I guess. Last edited by Headman; 04-19-2009 at 03:48 PM.. |

All I am saying is yes we older collectors are the power behind GI Joe. Star wars is popular ALL across the board because there is decades of marketing from our childhoods up to now so of course that line is what it is. GI Joe only floats because us who remember and care flip the bill. There are no 8 year olds stomping their feet in the isles wanting an Airborne, they could care less but we do and that's where the line lies, with us. So now that we have breathed life into the brand once again, they are setting out to expand on it which is great! I hated the TF Movie but it brought it out of the nostalgia realm and into main stream again. I hope that the GI Joe movie does the same. The only thing I think we ALL have a problem is when this happens Hasbro forgets about us, the ones who make it happen again and again for them when the attention span of today's kids leave them in the dust. For the kids today its not an enduring following like when were kids, its what is popular today. Tomorrow another card game will be put out with a crappy cartoon and all of yesterday will be forgotten once again. The movie will come and go and kids will move on and then what? Will Hasbro return to us and dangle an "ARAH" version of a character the "forgot" to give us the first time around or maybe a vehicle we all have been clamoring for with credit cards in hand ready to buy? Yes, until the Joe sequel comes out and they can turn on us once again. I know this sounds like a real life bummer but think of Hasbro like a good friend who for years you think is your right hand man until you realize hes just around because you work at some store and you can get him the discount and once he doesn't need the hook up any more he moves on without batting an eye. Its OK Hasbro, we understand. We will be here waiting for you in 2010 when kids dont care about "Nano-tech-face" Cobra Commander any more.... we will be here when you need us again.
