I'm well aware of the precedents, but their still some uniformity to kit, whether you see it or not. And this isn't about out of regs facial hair. I'm not asking them to police that moustache.
Unfortunately, Joes weren't wearing blue jeans and utility shirts, but sports jerseys and other clown costumes. ;) I wish to god Teika would do MACV/SOG and SEALS from the Vietnam era. Those would be some action figures worth ordering online! |

I always like their outfits. It gave them character. The ROC figures turned me off as soon as I saw them because they were all the same.

I would love to see at least some certain Joe characters done like Vietnam-era special forces, MACV/SOG, and/or SEALs. Especially some of the guys whose original file cards said that they spent time in Southeast Asia. |

After reading this entire thread. I have to say that as a person who began collecting joes in the late 80's, I don't know that I would have liked or collected them if they looked entirely military. They had army men for that.
I also find the quirky vehicles to be amusing and allowed for the line to not be too serious. Yes, my Night Raven is one of my favorites, but so are the Hammer and Badger. It was a line geared towards children and that carried over for me. Some like the realistic stuff. Me not so much, I like the quirky.

That's all I was getting at and didn't intend to start such a discussion for or against.

Just to be clear, I'm a big fan both of the realistic parts of Joe, and the weird parts. A big reason that I liked Joe as a kid was because of the way it blended realism (e.g., 1993 Battle Corps Duke) with the fun and fantastical.

I like both realistic and odd myself. I particularly love the COBRA HISS, Rage, and GI Joe RHINO vehicles.

I posted this earlier, but should have went into more detail. I also have been collecting since the Eighties. I have had few complaints, except during the early ninties, when we got all that weird crap with flamboyant colored weapons. I have to say that over the last year I started getting into the original Red Shadows stuff from the 80's from Europe. They have some wild figures, such as Skeletron, and Cracken, and I love some of the Bios, like how their version of Cobra Commander came to be, and how he is really Baron Ironblood. But the weirdest, and coolest thing I bought, and paid out the nose for was a Roboskull. Basicallya Red Tie fighter, with a skull made into the mold. It dosent fit at all into the joeverse, but then in ways it really does. The pilot red wolf, is a repainted tie fighter pilot. A used one runs between 150 to 200 bucks, but it looks awsome
