The HISS at least is put over in the cartoon and I want to say in the early days of the comic as being decently armored; the STUN gets no such consideration. It's lightly armored and has NO protection whatsoever for it's crew. Yeah, it's fast, but not so fast that it can't be hit with something! I like the look of the thing but it's hard to make sense of.
My take on the Maggot (which was always a favorite) was that it could fire on the move, but would be much more accurate if they parked it. Besides the fact that the angles are not changing, the third vehicle was the command and control center, so I figure it has more advanced targeting calculation capabilities than the gunner himself has in gun rig. Of course that again does not help the poor driver who is right out there in front! The Adder just looks like a great target, doesn't it? I imagine it must sit well behind Cobra's lines, get fed targeting information remotely, and then fire, because otherwise it's one big deathtrap!

I always thought the Adder looked terrible - I still do. As a moderately sized rocket artillery vehicle, I preferred the Imp, although I think that concept would have been far better if it were a larger vehicle with two or three crewmen.

This kind of stuff used to really bug me and now I am okay with it. I have enough reality in my life that I don't mind Joe taking some liberty. This is part of the classic Gi Joe "realism versus fantasy" debate.

Your speaking of the Adder which I like it alot, its fast and can be somewhat steathly and agile. It parks out of sight, someone or something can feed the driver operating the targeting systems coordance and BlAsToFF! bye bye Joe what ever it is! But yeah, if it ever got hit and destroyed in the Cobra armory bye bye everything in there! Oh and dont forget the Cobra Imp tank too! 3 rockets that explosed to diperse mines in the battle field! Not sure which one is worse, the Adder or the Imp? both leave the driver explosed and both carry explosive ordance. |

I agree that the Thunderclap was awesome. That was one of my favorite vehicles when I was a kid.

Somebody mentioned the Stun. I always felt it was designed to be somewhat chariot looking. It came out around the time of Serpentor, the Cobra emperor so it made sense to me that was the aesthetic they were going for.

Yes sir... I cringe when I see others ditch GI Joe vehicles and replace them with BBI or something more realistic... that's not GI Joe to me. If everyone was wearing camo or olive drab, how could you tell them apart?
