Great idea and fun stuff, I always loved the design drawings that came with the comics.
One thought however - I'm not sure that you could build the PIT for $27 million today. I'm not even sure that would have been enough back in the 80s. You've got several levels of underground base, you've got to dig a big hole in the ground and then put in the building, steel, concrete, elevators, ventilation, etc. The cost to build this would be much higher. And once it is built, I wouild expect it to be listed for above the build price. I don't have a specific number in mind, but I'm thinking this would easily be x2 or x3 the $27 million figure. If we wanted to compare apples to apples, we would need to figure out how much other military bases cost, and then try to find something that is comparable in size . . . hidden underground in NY real estate . . . that is also top secret and houses an elite fighting force . . . On second thought, we may as well just pull numbers from thin air. I love these type of discussions.

Pass.
For 27 million i will not settle for anything less then the 83 HQ.CC, complete with a wolverine in the garage, and a skyhawk on the helipad. Also I think the $15 million ghostbuster firehouse, also on that website, has better resale value. |

27 mil for something built by the lowest bid contractor. Good luck with that and it's collapsed twice what a deal. You know Richard Branson going to buy it and call it the Virgin Pitt.
