That Masters of the Universe and TMNT have such amazing sculpts and all the characters and our line constantly disappoints?

I'm not really sure how G.I.Joe disappoints, as the Pursuit of Cobra, 30th Anniversary and some assorted Retaliation designs have been the best molds ever released.
Can you elaborate? |

There is zero consistency in the line, hard to find, constant restarts, and more bad sculpts than good ones.

There's definitely truth behind those statements on all accounts. Keep in mind though, technically we weren't supposed to have a line that lasted this long. The ability to locate product isn't based on Hasbro, but based on distribution by big box retailers (for example - the latest waves have been readily available at etailers and are now starting to see somewhat higher distribution/find rates as stores stock their shelves). The sculpts have been increasingly better since the 25th Anniversary collection, so I would have to disagree with that sentiment, but that's not to say that I appreciate the molds and/or characters they're related to. To me, there's a difference between "bad mold" and "bad character/figure choice." |

Just see how great the MoU looks and wonder why we cant have something that good.....even when MoU is just a horrible line in my opinion.

On the other hand, don't MOTUC work out to considerably more than the $9.99 per GI Joe? (When you factor in shipping and subscription prices.) And TMNT seems to just as popular with the kids today as it was in the early 90's... I bet it outsells Joe at retail by at least 5:1. Meaning Playmates may have more cash to throw at new molds/sculpts than Hasbro does for Joe. Indeed.

MOTUC are all ugly, everyone looks the some and the Horseman cannot sculpt faces good, every looks like they ran into a door with their flat faces and their women faces are beyond horrible. Everyone raves about the MOtu articulation but they really do not have good range. It is a fun line but Joes are far and away superior and as far as TMNT goes, Joe blows them out of the water, not in availabilty but unless it is a turtle thouse guys have no articulation.

I think the Joes are awesome, we are getting the BEST 3 3/4 figures that are out there right now. Its very true that finding them at retail sucks right now. I am hoping that as we get closer to Christmas wave 3.5 and 4 become more available.
To me though, I think you are comparing apples and oranges. The MoU stuff is nice but its 6-8 inch scale. Also its not like we can walk into a store and get them either, you must be a matty collector member and all that shit. Also I would pick ANY Gi Joe from 25th on, or especially POC on, over a TMNT figure. Again, to me its apples and oranges. They are cartoony and bigger, whereas the Joes are intricately detailed, great accessories, and articulation. The only thing good for TMNT is that yes you will find them in stores whenever you go. We are all entitled to our opinions, but personally for me, I would take a wave 4 Night Viper over a MoU or TMNT any day. |
