not to disagree or agree, things to consider though:
-hasbro doesn't keep the same creators for more than a couple years. -MOTU toys cost 40$ a pop or some wheres near that mark. so they can put more into them. -turtle's dont really need that much detail, cuz they are bases off of a sci-fi something/ or dont need human like details. plus they are toddler based anyway. |

I wouldn't say the line constantly disappoints. There are a few figures here and there that are lacking in detail/paint apps. As for sculpts, it seems as if GI Joe does reuse many molds, but I don't view this as bad... unless it's head sculpts (using Outback's head for the ROC Monkeywrench made me very sad). And of course you get the occasional new sculpt (Retaliation Lady Jaye head) that does disappoint. But how is it possible? Because we as a community continue to purchase what is released. Whether it's a full $10.00 figure just for a few accessories or maybe a vehicle solely for the driver (or vice/versa).
On the other hand, don't MOTUC work out to considerably more than the $9.99 per GI Joe? (When you factor in shipping and subscription prices.) And TMNT seems to just as popular with the kids today as it was in the early 90's... I bet it outsells Joe at retail by at least 5:1. Meaning Playmates may have more cash to throw at new molds/sculpts than Hasbro does for Joe. Indeed.

yes but that is overstock because that line didnt sell well in 2012 it was expected to do huge with re releases because MOTUC on the .org cried about not having reissues then in 2012 Matty did them and the "fans" didnt buy them, similar to Joes and Star Wars guys who wait until Target clearances big items or exclusives to buy one.
thos 8 and ten dollar prices are because they had thousands upon thousands of them in a warehouse not selling. |
