I'd rather take a break for a while. I know that's not popular, but I think the line needs focus and a re-vamp. Let the Club take over for a bit on the exclusives and let Hasbro sort out what it's doing. It's clear the concept case stuff is super popular, they need to focus on that, start over and release some really well done figures. |

At this point I really don't care. Not that I apathetic about GI Joe, per se, but I have the stuff I really want. They've made most of the tags that were near and dear to me in my youth. So whatever they produce in the future --- well, if I like it I'll buy it and if not I won't

Good point Fireflyguy! I feel like Hasbro has done so much to update the important characters of the 80s! I know Im in the minority but Im done with the old characters! Im not into the club figs but I know completest, and fans of the later Joes are! I am ready to see a new direction taken! Video game tie in like Sky Landers and the new Disney version. Perhaps club and 7 pack vintage box sets (Star Brigade,Renegades,Eco Warriors etc) With new Star Wars films, characters and figures coming I would like to see GI Joe right along side them! Maybe the right action figures could save the line from extinction!

I voted drop the line and bring back the Adventure Team. Take a break though, Hasbro, and come out strong with a line of toys that are timed WITH a show and represent the show. Get the Justice League guys to write it if possible.
Obviously, not many kids or parents are buying into the JOE line right now as a military line. Change it up like you did back in the day. Who's to say that the JOEs we know and love couldn't make VERY small appearances on the show. Kind of like how they did in Renegades. Something's got to be done, but I fear Hasbro is out of ideas for it. At least the guys calling the shots are. POC and 30th were pretty stellar, but got the ax in lieu of a delayed movie with subpar product. ... that's just shitty.

I have said for the past 2 years I think they need to ditch the ARAH moniker.
Make GI Joe a UN or NATO organization. The best of the best from the special forces of all first/second world countries to respond to terrorists and abusive dictators (of fake countries) and the like... Keep or update some of the GI Joe codenames, and make some new characters....

Take some of the IDW character designs & make them 1:18. I would really like a Krake/Cobra Commander from their Cobra Civil War series.

I read somewhere that the SKYLANDER figures outsold all other figures this past year- as we all know kids interests have evolved over the years...and now more interested in the Video Games...why not incorperate the figures with a video game based play. The figures could stand on bases, etc. the figures could come with multiple stands in each pack and when you place the different stands they would allow the figure to go on different missions of play- the stands being differnet programs and radmonly inserted into the packages- so you woudn't know which mission you are getting...hence- wanting to buy more figures to unlock more missions, special weapons, etc....

Im curious, I wonder if the big box stores are phasing out GI JOE because they have so many cheaper army guys available from other companies that might increase profits for them? Its strange TRU is slowly phasing out the Joes, but have their knock offs displayed proudly.Same with Walmart and Target. Sort of like Drug stores like Walgreen's they carried Moon Pies, JIF, SKIPPY PEANUT BUTTER. Sandwichs and cold cuts made by a host of companies. Now you go and see their own brand DELIGHT all over the store. The store brand has taken over the name brands.

How about take a page out of the past. GI JOE was a generic army-man when I was a kid. There was no CC, SE, SS, etc... Each GI Joe figure could be whoever you wanted him to be. We had American soldiers, both historic and modern, also there were other nationalities represented like German WW2 or even RCMP, State Troopers, etc... I would like GI Joe to go generic and issue soldiers from different nations and historic time periods. Sort of like 21st Century Toys did with their 1:18 XD line, but lean more to modern units/themes. Also I can't picture GI Joe going UN. Never has there been such a hamstrung inept military concept as the UN has turned into. (Had to get that out my system).
Anyhow, there be some more fodder to chew upon my friends! |
