I see your point, but the PO is set up to try to get people to use Priority Mail against their will to increase revenue.
Example: I was at the PO and a woman came in with a package she wanted to send by parcel post. She asked for a small piece of tape to secure a flap or something. They told her they weren't allowed to give her plain tape - they could only give her tape with the logo printed on it. After she attached the tape, they told her the price of sending the item was now higher because they would only send it via Priority because it had the tape on it. I almost always use first class or parcel post. I don't misuse Priority boxes for those-I get smaller boxes from work or from stores. But I don't think you can equate someone who ships in inside-out Priority boxes with the guy who effectively lost me $30 by repacking a set from KB with a different figure and gear. Definitely!Ive gotten a few repacks my self, and took them back and they just put them back on the shelf.I just meant that i understand that opinion but there is no comparison in misusing boxes and repackers. |

yeah, I can understand that there's a difference between the two and that one is worse than the other, but theiving is theiving. I was comparing the two because the basic principle (circumventing rules to get something cheaper) was the same.
As for the USPS being set up to force people to spend money, I can see where you're coming from. However, I'm also an Eagle Scout so I have to say "Be Prepared". The lady in your story could have gone back home to get some regular tape or just used a different service like Fed Ex or UPS, if she didn't want to use the service she didn't have to. Mind you if I had been there and witnessed that scene, I would have been a little pissed. More so if I had actually been the one that happened to. I had a similar thing happen with the aforementioned priority address label: I was using one of the priority address labels but I had cut off the header that had the priority logo on it. The postal worker noticed the code at the bottom of the label and said next time she see's that on my package, she's gonna have to charge me priority rates. After that I figured why even use the labels? Simply put, USPS doesn't have to give us anything free. They do it so we'll use their services. Sure they get money from us if we use a cheaper service, but do they make enough to cover the cost of the boxes they gave to us for free? |
