nice gesture but if you have to advertise it... it's like reminding my kids to say please and thank you when it's behavior i expect from them to begin with. it achieves the end result but i don't want to have to remind them.
in the end, your asking for this to end up like the x-mas thread. great idea, glad it was done but a few bad apples seemed to have ruined a good thing in terms of the public response and they way it's now represented publicly on the forum. do a good deed and move on. if your doing it for the right reason, your not looking for praise but simply the joy/satisfaction in knowing you did a good thing. this topic would be better served by posting reports/testimonials of pay it forward instances vs. soliciting them.

I'm not really sure if you're saying this in response to my post or the thread in general? I'm not sure where you get the "a few bad apples seemed to have ruined a good thing in terms of the public response and they way it's now represented publicly on the forum." That seems to make ZERO sense! There doesn't seem to be any bad apples in this thread except for you! Also no one in here is looking for praise or soliciting a pat on the back! I was saying it because it truly made me happy and was done in the spirit of Xmas. I liked where this thread was going until you posted in it and it was just about trying to get everyone involved and help out fellow tankers where we can. I guess we know the only thing Arch2b can be counted on is for his UNSOLICITED opinion

let me back this up a bit... what i meant was i liked the idea of the original post whom posted his experience about his pay it forward moment. i would like to read testimonials about pay it forward moments vs. signing up for a pay it forward experience. this is of course just an opinion.
the x-mas thing turned into a huge, long rant about how a few bad apples could ruin it. go back and read it. you'll have to click back a ways before getting back to generally good stuff. it's a real shame that that happened. it was a very good idea and had a great feeling about it and the whole end of the thread is bickering about what to do about bad apples. just a not so nice ending to a very good story. i enjoy reading shared experiences like these being posted. i've had my share of them to.

Around Xmas time last year I held a giveaway/drawing for an Airborne figure and tankers just had to submit their best childhood memory of their airborne toy and then I put all their names in a hat and pulled one out. Boba Fett won and I sent it to him free of charge...he seemed pretty happy

The credit has to go to the goosetuber. He started it with sending me a Marvel Kang figure and I follwed on with comics to Smokeeater, then he followed it on. It's not about getting recognition, it's about spreading a little brotherhood throughout the online community. We all snarp at each other over silly things so we need to sometimes remind ourselves we are all tankers! And that means something!
