So when the 25th showed us the crimson guard I thought the looked cool enough to army build about a dozen of them including the Fred from the comic packs.
Last summer I was thinning out my collection a bit and thought that my CGee army looked a bit dated and was just taking up space so I traded them off as a lot to some lucky tanker. Fast forward to last week when I found 2 MU professor x at retail and busted some great custom Tomax and Xamont and now they need some CGees to do there bidding. My initial thought about the Retaliation CGees was a pass, they look ok but I don't need em. Now after taking a closer look I think I'll be picking up a few, the updated look isn't that bad to me and the parts they have used look ok. I won't be preordering since it seems no one is really exited about this figure and I feel like if they hit retail I have a fair shake at getting a few to turn up in the wild. My question is. Does anyone else like the look of these guys and will you be army building CGees? Or are the 25th release still ok in your book? |

I don't care much for CG's and I don't have any at all. As a matter of fact, ill e trading off the ones I get in my cases for cobra combat ninjas.

I don't like the new CG, so I'll be sticking with my 25th versions. I would like to see how they look without their vests on though.

I like the new guys, but I'm not going to army build anymore. Plus I have tons of the 25th version.

Same here, and I have a HUGE army of 25th CG's, along with the TRU troopers/squad leaders/officers. I plan on getting some of the new CG's and using them as heavy infantry soldiers to buff out my army even more.

I bought about a half-dozen of those TRU Crimson Guard packs, opened them, and decided after about five minutes that they were too lanky, awkward and misshapen. Sold them all right away.
I have one of the new ones on preorder, but I'll probably sell him, too. I'm no vintage purist, but they've yet to surpass the original CG. |

I loved the 25th Crimson Guard. Even with the leg holster thingy it still was bad ass. The way it stands, the way the arms look, the color..... anyway
The updated one to me is not bad (only have pics) but I think Ive had enough of the Snake Eyes upper leg. I dont care what you do to it (parts added), its still Snakes leg. Maybe cause of the ninja theme to all the movie toys they are doing may have led them to do this. I dont know. I'm happy with the Alley Viper (both molds), the way they look. I can live with new. not a internet buy for me so, The amount I get is up to Hasbro and the stores that get past wave 1!

I'll get the one that's coming with my ordered case and decide whether to Ebay him then. None of the pictures make me excited for him - his helmet's too big and the Alley Viper legs are too skinny. I highly doubt I'll be buying more.
The 25th CG may have some small issues such as the holster and hollow pack, but on the whole I thing he's a great update of the original. Part of what always made me like the ARAH version was how sleek and formidable they looked. I still think the best looking combat uniform for the CG is putting their head on the old red Resolute Trooper body (I used the silver face-plated 5-pack helmet)... I've got a picture floating around somewhere. Last edited by Dake; 06-20-2013 at 07:32 AM.. |
