How is it that Sgt Flash is a Sergent if his file card says E-4. Anybody in the military (Army here) knows that E-5 and above is for NCOs. I know that Corporal is also E-4 so shouldn't it be Cpl Flash. As a side note shouldn't he be a higher rank. I mean after all 25 years in the Army you need to get promoted at sometime. Must be a self promotion.

Doesn't it have something to do with the rights to the name? That's why we have "Agent" Scarlett and Sgt. Stalker.

The link above has the rankings broken down by year...It even has the Joes broken down by which military branch they come from. |

I noticed it and thought it was weird too. My father taught me the rankings when i use to collect joes. I imagined it has something do with the Gi Joe issue where the original joes all get promoted to Sergent. He's an unoffical sergent in the US Army but a sergent within the joe unit.

GI Joe is filled with weird stuff like that.
Flint is listed as a Warrant Officer in the Army, but his rank has him at an E-5 pay grade. Britain has warrants at NCO ranks, but in America they carry the same weight as their comissioned officer counterparts (in theory anyway). My father is a W-4 in the Army. Instead of being a jack of all trades like normal officers, warrants choose a specialty, usually as pilots like Flint, and master it. In reality Flint would out rank Duke. In fact, a lot of Joes outrank Duke, but that's a different story. I completely agree that the 25th line is a complete "reboot" (for lack of a better term) for the Real American hero line, but i would have expected technical hiccups like that to be fixed. Not that it makes the toys any less interesting or less enjoyable. We can all ignore the file cards anyway, but it would have just been cool to have all those things corrected. Not a huge deal... anyway... I think the tiger force one fixes it...

Do E-8 even exist? My father said E-8 didn't exist anymore because most E-7 would become officers.
