There will always be diehard ARAH fans to keep interest in those. But honestly, it's not a huge collector market like vintage Star Wars is. The newer 25th Anniv and reissued vehicles can only help interest in the GI Joe brand in my opinion.
I myself always looked at the ARAH figures of my youth but never bought any because they weren't up to current toy standards. Same with MOTU. They're making these near-exact-designs of the vintage MOTU He Man, Skeletor, etc. Who would want to buy the poorly sculpted/articulated vintage figs when you could get the same looking character you remembered with updated features? Times are always changing and at some point the people who remember owning ARAH figures will be gone and the 25th line will replace those as 'vintage'. Happened with tin toys and all the old toys of yesteryear. |
