Yeah they are really hurting the price of a USS Flagg!! That puppy is still going for tons of cash on EBAY. I haven't seen a real big change in ARAH stuff on ebay because if they want it they are gonna bid out the ass to get it. When I can get a Tomahawk 100% for 30.00, or a Skystriker 100% for 50.00... then I will believe the 25th line is doing some damage to the ARAH line!

I have most of the ARAH series because I have been collecting for so long and just filling in the small gaps in my collection. I am also a firm believer in the 25th line but frustrated with so many "dups" and "repaints" coming out. I am trying to complete my ARAH collection as much as possible just to say I finished a collection that I started when I was a kid.
Now I pose a question to all ARAH Collectors: do you consider the figures/vehicles from the 1997 thru 2006 (pre-25th years) part of the ARAH series or just the 82-94 series? I used to have ALMOST ALL figures and vehicles from 82-06, not matter what they were. I have gotten rid of the Valor v Venom, GI Joe vs Cobra, and Spy Troops because I felt they were not part of the original series. What do you fellow collectors consider the "ARAH Series"? That is my thread submission for the night, going to bed. YO JOE!!! |

I say yes. Even though the vendors I've seen have actually raised their prices on vintage items, but there seems to be a lot more of it around and not as many people are biting. I think a lot of collectors got rid of a big chunk of their ARAH stuff.
I don't mind mixing what I have already with the new stuff, but I wouldn't buy any more ARAH stuff new or old. I sort of regret all those original HISS tanks and V1 Vipers I bought now but I just chalk it up to the game. I think an ironic consequence might be the increase in value of the 1990's neon Joes and COBRAs, since there's little chance Hasbro will revisit most of them in updated style. I haven't seen any evidence of that yet, but collectors, as we know, are a fickle lot and tell them something is hard to get and they want it that much more. |

For me, ARAH is really 82-90. As a kid I had the stuff from 91-94 (I was 11-14) but I don't have any fond memorys, just lots of neon dreams!
Lots of collectors cut the line off at '86 or '88, as the series was going "downhill" in some respects.

Oh!
And in 25 years, it'll be the ARAH 50th anniversary, so we'll all get sucked back into collecting, wherever we are. Just you wait.

I play GI Joe with my 4 year old son. I use all 25th style figures. As far as the vehicles go I use the new 25th stuff as well as the old stuff that the 25th figures fit into. The thing is that now that everything new is on hold for the movie I am thinking of buying some of the older vintage vehicles that I don't have but really want. Like the Killer Whale. Thing is, if I do that and then Hasbro comes out with the Whale down the road I will be pissed. On the other hand I don't want to wait a whole year before Hasbro does or doesn't come back with the 25th line.
I do think the new line is dropping the price and interest in the older Joe's. |

You may be onto something... hmm Hasbro comes out with 25th line.. makes ARAH line bottom out.. Hasbro sends out covert buyers to buy up all the, now cheap as dirt, ARAH stuff, and then Hasbro can make new vehicles and you'll have no choice but to buy it and spend whatever they charge!!
Conspiracy!!

the market was all about ARAH because VvV and everything else sucked. plain and simple. but there's a new sheriff in town.
we live in an era of options. we're constantly being tugged and wooed in different directions. the 25th is like that new hot chick in the office. LOL. |

Who's a LITTLE crazy, hot as hell, but you just know somewhere deep down you should't get attached because it's not going to last forever...

If you are asking about prices recently-then this mostly has to do with the economy and not re-issues
