Because remember, it's the 50th anniversary of THAT Joe, not the ARAH Joe. Won't stop them from including some ARAH product in the "celebration" but anyway....point being that there will be something so long as the line is still at retail next year. |

So many things wrong at once here.
First, for clarification, there's nothing wrong with having a wish list or working to get a rhythm going within the community. The first thing here is you're forgetting that Hasbro plans their line a year in advance. Whatever Hasbro has coming down the pipe is already planned. The second thing is, after the success of Retaliation at theaters, Hasbro is scrambling around re-planning this year and the next. Giving them a wish list at this point is, in all likelyhood, a complete waste of time. The third thing is the amount of product you have listed here. That's more than an entire year's worth of product. But not only that, whatever Hasbro plans as a salute to the 50th, will only be a fraction of the entire line up next year. Hasbro will not devote an entire year's product for the 50th celebration. The fourth thing is, unless you are wanting Hasbro to cobble together some Joes with parts already in use, there's no way in Hell Hasbro is going to give us guys like Footloose, Zartan, Scrap Iron and Shipwreck with new sculpts. The fifth thing is the ladies. Unless it's an exclusive, or a movie year, I wouldn't count on Hasbro giving us any more females in the line up. Maybe Scarlett. But that's a maybe.

Yeah, at the Con they didn't seem like they were doing anything. A couple 12" collectors brought it up at a panel and they didn't have any answers. So to me it seems like they don't have anything planned!

I hate to break it to you, but if Hasbro has any special plans for the 50th Anniversary, they're already pretty much locked-in, or at the very least have a few different options mapped out dependent on how well Retaliation product does.
Also, not gonna get much attention paid to you when you start your "business proposal" with "Hasbro is clueless" and just assume that retailers (who Hasbro has no control over and yet is completely dependent upon) are going to bend over backwards to accommodate this proposal. Retailers weren't even keen enough on the line to get the full "30 for 30" out onto shelves, but they're going to do "50 for 50?" Lol, I say. Quote:

Honestly, for someone who joined back in 2007, you seem to be in a pretty idealistic state of mind, here. ;)

I like these wishlists and it is funny to see that 90% of collectors want essentially the same things, but it is the 10% that I like to see. The 10% of guys who REALLY want a new Crystal Ball or Eco Warriors or Raven, although I myself could care less who we get as long as we get some new stuff showing up.
That being said, the MBA in me actually clicked on this thread cringing at the possibility that one of you lunatics wrote an actual business plan for Hasbro! Have you guys ever read a business plan for a global brand before? Trust me - if you haven't you don't really want to. |

They just weren't talking about it at the con. You know what might be cool as an additional tie-in? Sideshow doing a "classic" Joe Colton, Sideshow-Style (With both classic clean-shaven and bearded heads). Last edited by Jmacq1; 04-18-2013 at 08:09 AM.. |

The OP also did not add the original Soldier, Sailer, Marine, Pilot, Jane the Nurse, Adventure team, Super Joe, Extreme, Sgt Savage, or Sigma six to the list. All of wich could be done in 3 3/4 new sculpt. It realy would not be a 50th aniversary celebration for G.I. Joe without some nod to each era from the begining thru now. |

While having "all era" represented would be nice, I don't see it. You will see a solid nod to the original 12" line, maybe an Adventure Team throwback, and some RAH stuff. Quote:
It's not impossible, but that likelyhood is probably going to be ultimately determined by how much support Joe has. Here's my bet on what Joe's 50th will end up being: A series of 12" figure remakes/throwbacks. If Hasbro is paying attention, it won't be too elaborate since 12" hasn't done shit at retail the last 4 times they've pushed it. Probably end up exclusives like the remainder of the 40th 12" product and the Adventure Team release. Personally, I'd just have Sideshow do a couple "original Joe throwbacks", where their experience and costs will give collectors a product worth their time, more than Hasbro would really be able to. A series of 3.75 figures styled after the original 12" figures, akin to what was released in 1993 (given advances in tooling and design, I think this is most likely to see release and get a decent reception). Maybe a "then and now" set with a couple to show how the military perception has changed in the last 50 years. RAH-based GI Joe will continue on as it has been doing (couple dozen figures, 2-3 vehicles, if we're lucky one of which will be new), though I'm still a believer in the 5 POA "All-Stars line" as a REAL possibility

I honestly don't understand why Hasbro would really push to much on this to the general public. I think anything that would be of worth to collectors would be done as exclusives through any of the "Con" outlets and the Collector club. releasing 12" figures seems like such a waste of resources and time. I know it might be blasphemy but they maybe could consider releasing a set of stuff like the 2" Sigma 6 series using the style of the Human Alliance figures they released with DOTM and scaled down vehicles?
Since Hasbro is a publicly traded company and profit is the bottom line for them, a huge celebration of 50th, while a rare milestone for any toyline, may not really have much behind it at this point. I would think some sort of multi-pack figure sets would be in order. I so want to see a big promotion and lots of creativity from them, I just don't think with the rising costs of everything due to this economic uncertainty, they will do just enough to say they celebrated it, but will not be extravagant. I mean half of the people on the boards say they won't buy a figure for $10 let alone if it's $15 or so, and unfortunately it comes down to a simple phrase...."show me the money"
