I know that many here on the 'Tank are strictly 4-inch Modern Era collecters, but does anyone buy the new vehicles/playsets for just their 3.75 figures and not collect or sell off the 4-inch figures?
I have always wondered this as many here buy the 3.75 (1982-2007) vehicles for their 4-inch collection. Just wondering.

I do the opposite actually, I try to buy the old vehicles for the modern figs. frustrates me I cant get the dragonfly cause wild bill wont fit into it. I like the modern figs more because of the articulation and that you can actually take most of the weapons out of the holsters and what not.

I'd like to see a Dragonfly with some modern tweaks to it. Would there be in issue though with getting two figures in the cockpit?
I pick up some of the smaller modern vehicles for ARAH display, Armadillo, RAM because the add ons and parts recoloring make them pop a little more then the originals.

I recently got a a slugger to finally have a place for my ROC thunder, and he displays OK in it. He is kind of an open target in it. I fear cover girl will fit in the vintage wolverine, but might not sit all the way down, thus making her an open target as well.
I have never heard of someone modding a poc vamp for vintage figs. I think they would look like hobbits in it, and need phone books and blocks on the pedals for them to fit.

I usually keep modern stuff with NE figs and vintage vehicles with vintage figs. I do put ME figs on the battle platform, and now that we have a new tomahawk coming out, I'll put ME figs in the new one and get some vintage figs to put in the vintage version.

They make some really good interpretations of older vehicles, and some newer figs look cooler in them, but also some older figs look good in newer vehicles......take the water mocassin....so many newer repaints but still good enough for vintage copperhead

Really doesn't seem like there are many choices left if you want a cool looking vehicle than to get the good old classic stuff these days. But since display space has it's limits I try to just collect the new figures to keep the ascetic the same.
We got some cool updated vehicles for the 25th line, but it seems like vehicles kind of gone down hill on quality and cool factor since then. Also fewer releases as retailers seem more reluctant to stock vehicles. |

I do the opposite as well. I'll use old vehicles & accessories with new figures, but for some reason can't do it the other way around. It seems like putting a replica art print in The Louvre or something. Lol.

No. I had loads of the vehicles as a kid but as they all broke so easily I just collected figures and the old palitoy vehicles which seemed sturdier. As an adult I bought a few complete classic vehicles to go with them striker, stinger, armadillo, hiss, snowcat.
The only time I broke this rule was for the red shadows joecon bunker as I needed a hq for my shads. |
