What I love most about G.I. Joe is the richness of it, that fact that in a sense it touches almost every aspect of fiction. What other property can combine a biker gang, ninjas, cloning dead people, terrorism, undercover Hawaiian shirt wearing guys, aircraft carriers, tanks, and space stations, and have it fit so well. To many people G.I. Joe can be too science fiction, or it can be too realistic military, but there are things for everyone in the franchise. I love the idea that G.I. Joe is so changeable to be whatever it needs to be, but it's always going to the the best at that.

The first toy I ever got was the original Lt. Falcon figure. For me it was a combination of a military theme series as well as the different characters with different fields they were experts in combined with the bad guy they fought who brought in different looks and technologies it had it all to me.
Plus my brother was in to TMNT, TF, and Dino Riders and I needed my own unique brand. |

when i think of gi joe, 1980's immediately comes to mind. obviously, it was the debut of the 3 3/4" line which to me is the turning point in gi joe franchise! anything after the 80s is nothing but a parody (except the classic 80s).
gotta have what i missed out not having as a kid ya know what i mean jelly bean! |

Well, it's not my FAVORITE property...(Transformers is probably still number one) but it's definitely up there.
My reasons are kind of polarizing. I'm all about the Storm Shadow/Snake Eyes conflict, as well as the "super-villain" aspects of Cobra Commander, Zartan, etc. I love the ninjas and the backstory. I love that Storm Shadow is the bad guy in white fighting against the good guy in all black. I love Cobra Commander's creepy mirrored face mask. All the army stuff? Not my thing. I have very few Joes in my collection, and the ones I have are not traditional military guys. I'm all about the Cobra/Ninjas!! |
