Mike Triumph is AFAIK always been the Adventure Team Commander, as evidenced by this give away newsletter from 1974
http://www.plaidstallions.com/hasbro/atn4.jpg http://www.plaidstallions.com/hasbro/atn.html The names of some of the other Adventure Team members the Club is using like Tom Stone, John Steele etc, came from Hasbro's International Licensees like Action Team (Germany), Super Action Joe (France)and Action Team (Italy). This is a really good post that I am resurrecting b/c of yesterday's Colton reveal.
I have a question and wonder if someone knows. Over Christmas, I read all of the FunPub AT stories. I remember there was an a letter from someone (I forget who), recommending someone else take over AT....I think anyway......does anyone else remember that. Btw, who else caught the James Bond reference in the FunPub letters.....that gave me the clearance to include Bond in my universe....I always wanted to and that was my needed excuse |

Funny! I was just thing about this thread when I saw the reveal yesterday as well.
Honestly, I think it'd have been more cool if there had actually been a 12" fig in the 60's named Joe Colton. But I see what Larry was trying to do by paying homage to the original.

The original Adventure Team Club newsletter from Hasbro had a story about G.I. Joe setting up the original Adventure Team and gaining its earliest members. The UN sent GI Joe (later named Colton in ARAH) on a mission to stop a man named Bad Bart. On the adventure he meets two fellow men -- a rubber plantation worker named Big Red and a unnamed young pilot -- who assist during the Bad Bart mission and two more assignments GI Joe ends up with along the way. Once back home in the US, Joe finds out from the two men that they had manage to complete the remaining tasks when he was taken away to solve a different problem at the time. This establishes the first three members of the Adventure Team.
Does anyone know if there is a scan of this somewhere? I tried vintage3djoes and plaidstallions, but no luck. I'd love to read this.
