Guys like Stalker, Snake Eyes, Rock and Roll and Hawk. They're technically like what? In their 40s or something when they're members of G.I. Joe?

Late fifties at the youngest. Unless they lied about their age.

As of 1982, SE and Stalker would have been probably in their early to mid-thirties, having served in Vietnam in the early 70's as really young guys.
30 Years later, you have to pretty much suspend the whole time-line thing.

Yep if you go by them being in Vietnam they would be in late 60's to early 70's.

Most people "slide" the timeline up, so the Joes are in their mid-30s.
Vietnam worked back then, but it doesn't anymore so now the Joes were in an unnamed conflict.

Desert Storm would put them in their early forties.

I think it is pretty common for comic-books to go through this. Since the characters never HAVE to age (ie, you don't HAVE to draw them older), then they do get the benefit of being timeless. Unlike TV or movies with a single actor who ages.
Think how old Batman or Spiderman would be now? I mean, Peter Parker is a genius and has been in high school for what? like 60 years? |

Did Devils Due or IDW ever adjust which war they served in?
I know Marvel had to do that for Ben Grimm every decade or so. He started out as a pilot in Korea, now I think he flew in Desert Storm.

My dad was in the Marine Corp during Vietnam and is currently 63. While the original conflict Stalker, Storm Shadow and Snake-eyes served in was Vietnam, it has since been retconed to an unspecified conflict in order to keep them forever late-twenties/early-thirties. Since the conflict is no longer based on an actual event that would date it, it could take place whenever needed.

It is the mid '80s for my GI Joe world. It is always the mid 80's.
