Does anyone know of any events comming up in ohio, other than the columbus comic book convention. And does anyone know of any collector shops around ohio that sell 80's toys and g.i.joe stuff.

There is a small comic shop in Vandalia (by the Dayton Airport) that sells some 80s toys/joe stuff. It's been awhile since I have been inside, but I drove by a few weeks ago and it was still open. |

There is two pretty good ones in my area, there is "A Toys Time Forgot" in the Akron area which has a good supply of joes at a reasonable price and gets some new stuff in from time to time and there is "Big Fun" in Cleveland which I just visited for the first time a couple of weeks ago which has a Flagg setup in a case with skystrikers, tomahawks, conquests, and rattlers hanging from the ceiling. They have a good selection too. Not really the rare stuff like night force, but they have a lot of figures and vehicles both moc and loose in large display cases, most figures that are moc are from 86' through 94', a lot of battle corps too. They have some good deals, I picked up a 100% white and complete flagg for a 1/3-1/2 of what they go for on ebay, but this one was flawlesss and I mean flawless, not a crack anywhere, not even on the 6 mast tabs, very cool. I recommend checking them out if you are close, especially "big fun".

There is an antiques shop near rogers that you would not ever think sold joes, but go to the second floor in the toy room and you can find some pretty good stuff. If you don't, ask the lady behind the counter she stashes them in back sometimes. Theres also Screamin tiki con in the youngstown area theres also steelcitycon. if your in the Pittsburgh area theres a place on the south side called groovy there A**holes there, but good deals and stuff to be found

Columbus has a toy show in April.
CTS Promotions The Joe stuff is hit or miss there. There are a few guys that usually set up there that bring some great stuff like moderately priced ARAH army builders and wild looking international stuff like the green with black stripes Action Force HQ (which was a repainted GI Joe HQ). There is usually plenty of crappy loose $3 dollar figures if that is your thing. I have not been to one since the 25th stuff really hit.

Also even though I'm in W. PA. I'd really be into getting a local meet or something together for trading buying and selling. I've met some people from WV who have actually come up to trade and stuff and it always turned out to be pretty cool

Thanks for the information about the "Big Fun" store in Cleveland Heights. I will try to get up there soon and check that out.

Like Danny said, Big Fun is decent and they are usually willing to deal with you and it's just a cool store in general. In fact, that section of Coventry is a lot of fun to look at in general for all kinds of stuff. Toys Time Forgot has a kick butt selection but the prices really hurt. The CTS show in C-bus is always fun too. I used to find stuff at the Hartville and Rogers flea markets all the time but a lot of the 80s stuff has dried up quite a bit.
Shockblast, where's the antique shop near Rogers at? I wouldn't mind checking it out sometime. |
