Most, if not all of the figures from TF 2013 were shown last year or earlier. You're saying you'd wait another year for there release just for throwback 80s card art?! Nah... I'm just glad Hasbro is releasing such awesome figures that we could have possibly NEVER had. If card art is that big a deal, maybe someone could start their own custom card art business.
I'm just thankful for what we're getting. BRING IN THE FIGURES HASBRO!!!

I don't care. I'm just ecstatic that we're getting Kwinn and the Data Viper.

I would prefer better (vintage style) card art. I'll take a kwinn in a paper sack if I can get one though.

I think the recent packaging with all the extra plastic overall is poor. Give me great card art and a smaller bubble with loose parts.

The Tomahawk was the only packaging they showed, right? And it didn't have Retaliation packaging, so it will be interesting to see what the single figure cards look like once they move away from what we are seeing on the shelves right now.

While I echo the op's sentiment on the topic of lackluster card art (or packaging for that matter), at least there is a thick silver lining. After the initial skepticism of the Retaliation line, I'm geeked that the star of the show (the toys!!!) look to be in top form.
With that being said, I wouldn't be completely candid if I didn't share my two pennies about the omission of file cards (which I feel and always felt made GI Joe, GI Joe!). Oh, what could have been... I'm going to wax a little nostalgia here, but part of the spell that drew me into the GI Joe toyline when I was a pup was the card art, more specifically the file cards. Sure, the lion share of time spent was on the action figure, but what really had me invested in the character was the detailed and fun facts about the said character. For me, the file card gave my plastic action figure I held in my little hand a soul. Thanks Larry. Now I know that romanticized view through the prism of a child no longer applies to me, but I feel the lack of file cards won't lend the opportunity for the current crop of kids to feel the same way that I did many moons ago. Could just be my sappy self, what do I know... |

What in bloody hell, is the big deal about Kwinn??? I don't understand the hype over him. He is one ugly, boring ass looking figure. He is so plain and dull looking. I know, I know... Everyone is different and has their own opinions but usually I agree with the majority of Joe fans and like the same figures they do and even when I don't like a popular figure, I can at least understand why it is popular with alot of people. Kwinn, on the other hand, is just a complete and utter mystery to me, that I will never understand. Lol.
