I never cared about card art......just the figures inside the card.

Did you ever have Transformers growing up? I loved those damned missle launchers. Nearly wore out Soundwave's Amazingly enough, however, I never missed them when playing with my Joes.
Some will like the launchers, some won't. Collectors definitely won't. I guess it depends on which group is spending the most money on Joes these days according to their research. |

I'm completely with you on this. Before I saw the pics from the show all I could think about was that everything was reverting to 5-point articulation. Even going through some of the star wars pics from toy fair this year it looked like they had created a separete line which went to 5 point. Then I saw the joes and the Tommahawk/Eaglehawk..... then everything was right in the world.

Maybe its a way to keep scalping down? Maybe a way to cut cost? or just a movie brand identity thing? I have often wondered if it ws more than just $$$ driven? I mean the target for brand growth seems to be aiming for kids. But that could shift soon. This may not be a great thing though? I would take more cool figures and money put into figures rather than cool packaging any day? besides what happened to the new no plastic packaging we heard about?

Most, if not all of the figures from TF 2013 were shown last year or earlier. You're saying you'd wait another year for there release just for throwback 80s card art?! Nah... I'm just glad Hasbro is releasing such awesome figures that we could have possibly NEVER had. If card art is that big a deal, maybe someone could start their own custom card art business.
I'm just thankful for what we're getting. BRING IN THE FIGURES HASBRO!!! www.mocjoes.com facebook.com/mocjoes

Saves me $$$. I always got 2 because I loved the nostalgic look of the card art. Now that it's gone, I can happily rip open my figures and not worry about putting another one in a clamshell for display.

Cool card art is always a plus but it just ends up being ruined when I open the package and goes in the garbage, so it doesn't have any effect on what I get.
I wish Hasbro would release an art book with all the classic figure and vehicle illustrations free of text and plastic bubbles. |

See I always bought 2 just cause A)i like having a figure I like on card and B) I have a spare if something happens to the loose one. Honestly the cards could be pink with lil' hearts and rainbows around the logo and i'd still buy one if the figure was cool. And yes I would proudly display that figure on pink card

I kept all the cards from the 25th figures that I bought. Then last year I got them out and was looking at them again, and they looked so awful. Just bad photoshop jobs of the original great artwork. Some like Firefly and Spirit were especially bad. I tossed them right in the garbage after that. The artwork on the ROC figures was way better, but there was too much black on the background.
I guess the cards for the Dollar General figures got a pass because they were cheaper. They were plain as hell too, and made it look like everyone was part of the Arashikage clan. You can bet if they made a Ninja Shipwreck for the Retaliation line people would be bitching about it though. |
