Hey - I don't have a $3,000 TV or a $40,000 pickup like a lot of the yeggs I otherwise hang with, so if I got a $400-$500 a year toy habit, I'm not gonna feel all that guilty.
Especially since I'm not putting my mortgage in jeopardy like TV-guy and truck-boy. Yep, my Joe Dough is pretty much all earned via aluminum cans and banking the change saved by clipping coupons. |

At least I'm not buying heroin with my money! I'm cool with buying my plastic rocks!

Nope. I enjoy my nostalgia greatly. In a few years my son will inherit my collection (if he so chooses) and we will continue collecting together as long as GI Joe exists. If he doesn't want it, I'll probably just sell or store it like the 12" military figs I used to collect.

Guilty because they are toys? Nope. Now I have had buyer's remorse after I bought a figure I know I didn't really want or need. I don't really do that anymore, but a couple pf years ago I would go hunting and just buy stuff because I felt that I had to buy something to warrant my trip.

In high school I used to think it was very uncool to collect toys but I kept it to myself. I always displayed them in my room and my friends would always think my room was the coolest for all of the nostalgia.

Yeah...definitely. It was during my hardcore toy hunting years and first it was Marvel Legends/Selects, then Star Wars, GI Joe, Transformers, DC Direct but then it started going to Street Fighter, TV figures, movie figures, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, playmobil toys.
I spent possibly anywhere around $5,000+ on toys and I regret it because that year I was supposed to go on a trip to NYC, Boston and Seattle. And didn't. So, yeah...I had the guilty feeling because I'm not an opener. I just looked at them once at the store, once before storing away and then put them away in bins. I managed to sell a lot of them but at a fraction of what I bought them for. Side note: I would have been happy if I have never bought any other toy line and just focused on GI Joes (and possibly Transformers secondary).

As long as i'm paying my income taxes, I dont feel guilty. I was unemployed for a time, and that's when i sold 90% of my toy, dvd, and statue collection.
