Feeling for ya Roshan - it's awful when you want to support the brand, and you feel like it's an uphill battle. We in England feel much the same way about Hasbro UK...
If you're looking to get rid of some of those exclusives (and you don't mind shipping to the UK!) I'll ping you an IM if I may? I'm trying to catch a few of the exclusives from previous years.

The club isn't known for their service. Their products are a bit overpriced too.

If you've never been to any of these cons then how the hell do you know what any of the rest of us have been through. I don't need a casual by-stander 'take a breath and relax' moment. Because I'm worked up about it is the reason I'm done. No getting worked up anymore over something that I don't enjoy anymore because of the hassle. Selling cold turkey is the only way i would be able to get out of this, I don't piecemeal my collections. Doing some hard thinking the last hour or so, I think the loss of the con stuff will ultimately be the first domino towards dumping collecting entirely. Which, really wouldn't be such a bad thing. Putting about 60-70 thousand off of my mortgage would be a nice trade off.

I was unaware of any added benefits to getting a golden ticket. I thought it was simply for getting to purchase three of every con item. What exactly does a golden ticket get you then?

I'm also done with the club. I won't be renewing my membership. It expires soon.
I'm sick and tired of the way they run things, there crap monthly magazine, and there overpriced product. They are ruining the hobby with there overpriced subscription service. I'm sure the figures do cost them more to be made because of it being a small run, but I'm sure the club is making a killing on profits. They are making the hobby for the rich. Don't get me wrong, I ordered 2 subs, but afterwards, I started to think about how stupid I was. I made sure there was no money on my card so they wouldn't get the second payment. I'm in the process of selling the club sub figs and my entire modern collection on ebay. I have officially switched over to vintage. Good luck to anyone still doing business with the club.

I understand your frustration completely but I'm not picking sides when I ask this, but what else do you expect from a at-home business? I mean, this isn't Hasbro or any other major toy maker. It's a at-home business. I'm assuming that because when I Googled their address on the map it shows a house.

I've already been done with the club. For me it was a build up as well. but the clincher for me, seems kind of petty but the whole fss put me out. I had the money ready for what I thought would have been the price ( I was guessing 400). but with all the delays, and hacking and delays delays delays, well life happens and I used the money for other things, like towards a trip to disneyworld for my son. and when it finally came, I couldnt get the first payment in time. I think they gave 2 weeks notice, but I dont have a large bank account, and couldnt get the cash till a week after. my loss I know, should have kept the money saved..I know, but to be honest, If they had done what they were supposed to in the first place, everything would have still worked out. Now i have to pay nearly 200 off e-bay or where ever for the 2 I wanted Big Boa, and covergirl. so I am putting my 45 dollars I would have given for they're iceberg fig ( which I havent seen a pic of yet!) towards the 2 figs...How did I do that, cancelled my subscription to the club.

Front of the line access. Meet and greet with Joe Guests (which last year included a pretty good food and a kick ass Mardi Gras like parade walk to the venue). Front row seats at all panels. Plus the increased limits.

J- I'm real sorry to hear that you've come to that decision, but I think you have a very realistic and valid set of complaints which I also share a great deal of. I won't go into them here, because really it's just more flame bait.
What I will say is that your one of the people I always looked forward to talking with at Con and at the least saying hello. It'll be a shame that you won't be there, as I usually don't make the other conventions you frequent. So, I wish you well, and hope that this whole series of incidents doesn't sour you on something you really used to enjoy overall. |
