Gotta agree with the last couple of posts. I mean I know the internet was designed for airing grievances, and some of them are perfectly valid, but I do think for the betterment of the hobby a lot of people need to loosen up a little bit.
Yes, golden ticket sold out fast (as it always does) but anyone could have signed up to get a boxed set until today, that means there was over a week to order one at anytime you pleased. The fact that the con is upcoming every year is no secret, and while we might not have had a specific second the sets were going on sale we had a lot of advanced warning...too much really, since there were some false starts. Anyway, despite any issues anyone may have with the club one thing is true: over the last 11 years they have provided us with a means to acquire a ton of really cool figures that we never would've gotten otherwise. Whether you buy them, or support the club or not is certainly your choice to make. I will say for the record though, that while I certainly can sympathize with all the people that are claiming to have had issues during registration, I personally was able to breeze through it and the FSS sign-up and haven't had even a minor inconvenience with anything at all from the club since the credit card issue.

The last three posters completely missed what I was saying. Thought I made it perfectly clear in the last part. It is NOT that there is a money issue. Sure if you really want to go, you'll go, like me. BUT, the problem is that the tickets are limited. If you want more people at the con. If you want more people to buy into the club i.e. keep the individual costs of figures to stay down, keep it open. Don't have a limit on the sets. If you do have a limit of sets, it should be one per person. They allow one person to buy multiple sets and say if it is just you put the same name. No multiple sales to one person. Members of the club are the only ones that can get ONE, if you want the exclusive, become a member. Then, after it is all said and done and there are some left, anyone can get the leftovers.
Some people are on the fence, I was. We JUST found out the figures and what they looked like DAYS before registration. Not much time to get people on board. Sure, the con sets are picking up steam(why they ran out so fast) but if for any reason somebody was on the fence, they are NOT buying into the club. That is the fault here. I missed out on a bagged set because there was a problem with my transaction. It stated that my registration was ACCEPTED and I didn't need to register but somebody would contact me to finalize payment process. By the time they contacted me, My registration was kicked out and the sets sold out. If they want more people to come, it will be hard if they are forcing those people to pay a lot of money to go($190 with all perks), then make them pay the full $360 to get the set later. If the box sets would have sold out before I got re-registered, I wouldn't be going. I'm sure others got turned away. As a club you don't want to turn people away. THAT's why the set(set only) should NOT be limited, there should be a longer timeframe to register(1 week it sold out). THEN the club can have a better idea of the quantities to produce the set, and make more people happy. There are a lot of indecisive people give them a chance. Look at most weddings. They are RSVP. They find out how many people are going to attend, then produce that much food etc plus a certain percentage extra(based on the statistics of how many people show up without RSVP on average). Therefore they can get a more accurate idea of what to expect BEFORE they produce what will be there. Sure the con exclusives can be a certain quantity, but the ticket to get in to the show should only be what the occupancy of the building can hold or who ends up paying to go. Now the club has to spend more money to get another run of production started up. I agree, I love what we are getting from the club the last couple years with the ME stuff. But, it's a CLUB, they should still support demand. Not cut it off at a certain point(more people that come the lower the costs end up being). They have a deadline for registering for the club membership, allowing anyone to get time to want to join, why not do it for the con?

Well, I got the GT this year, but was unable to tghe last two years. As much as I respect the OP, I do think it's fair that other people get the chance to get them. I know people that had them in the past and they feel that they are entitled to them now. I'm not accusing Roshan of that. I'm just pointing out that other people were able to get them, just by being able to watch the site. To be honest Duffman let me know and he also was able to get the GT for the first time. I still say increase the limits for the regular attendees and just make the GT double the limits and then keep the rest of the perks. Then it's more for the entire VIP experience and not so much the reselling aspect of it.

For you all still ranting, don't forget your higher taxes kicked in in JAN. I got a raise but still lost money because the tax increase was greater.
Bottomline - our family anticipated the cost and set aside the money throughout the year. |

I respect everyones well founded criticisms of club experiences but I also respect the many posters who are being equitable about their experiences, good or bad. I think it says a lot about Joe collectors that this thread isnt the normal "haterz bash" type posting one usually sees on the internet but actually a reasonable and mature discussion about the topic. The tank is the first forum Ive ever posted on, I hope to meet some of you at the con who are attending! |

it feels good to just not care much about the obscure stuff the club does.

Like a lot of Tankers have already said, I never joined the GIJCC and don't have any plans on doing it. I like ME figures to some extent. I have several Low Light, lots of Shock Troopers, couple Renegades SS, couple TRUS QK and Spirit.
But I would gladly pay $10-12 for those figures then $360.00 and beyond for some kit bashed figures. |

The figures are expensive. I don't think anyone will deny that. But the club pumps out some really good figures. If I have to pay a little bit more once a year to get a set of figures that is really awesome, then that's what I'm going to do. I don't have any other expensive hobbies, so why not?

I don't have a problem with the club, per se, but I'm just not sure it's worth it for me to be a member. I'm a little but of an oddball when it comes to collecting. I don't have to have all the original figs redone. I collect only certain characters, and certain types of figures. I joined the club last year to get a Footloose and I ended up selling it because I really wasn't that interested in it. I don't give a crap about frostbite. I haven't been able to ever go to the convention, and although I'd like to, probably never will because of my job. If next year's figure doesn't absolutely blow me away, I probably won't rejoin.
