First off, I'm a club member, and I wish the club all the success in the world. I hope, that one day the club is so successful, that it can lower it's price points and make up the difference in volume of sales. However, I'm curious about some of the clubs practices. I've heard, and can understand, both sides of the arguement in regards to the rerelease of the 2012 con set; but now I'm watching how they're running the FSS. I'm glad there will be extras available, but I was under the impression that they wouldn't be available until all ordered figures were out. I do realize they are limiting those to 1 per membership for now, but my question is; Why should I join FSS 2? Can't I just join the club, and then knit pick the figures from FSS 2? What are your thoughts?

Well, from day 1 they said that the main advantage to subscribing is that you get the figures at a lower price, and it's the only way you can get the 13th figure.
If they put the 13th figure up on their site, then that would definitely be shooting themselves in the foot, because it would make it a lot easier for someone to cherry pick the next line. |

also i doubt big boa and cover girl will be readily available once they come out.
but ya you may be right i think once the big guns come out and if they stick around on the site then it'll be an issue i guess |

I guess it depends on that 13th figure. They better knock it out of the park with that 13th figure. I just don't know if there are that many figures on a "knock it out of the park" level to keep the FSS going for years. Kwinn and Pythona come to mind, but even then, not everybody wants those figures.

Signing up for the FSS guarantees you the mystery 13th figure. Not sure if that'll ever be released as a single.

So there won't be any extras of the 13th figure?

Correct. The 13th figure was advertised as a bonus for signing up for the FSS and according to the club will not be available otherwise. Additionally, as was already pointed out, you get the figures at a lower price by subscribing and are guaranteed to get every one. For some of the more desirable one, it may be hard to get an individual one before they sell through.

It's the same model Matty Collector does. You subscribe and get an exclusive bonus figure, but every other figure goes up for sale on the site. You would think they'd be shooting themselves by NOT selling more of the figures on their web site. That brings in more money and makes the production more viable. Plus even subscribers can buy more army builders that way.
At $37.50 each, after shipping, that's gotta be nearing double what you'd pay through the FSS. Not sure what the numbers are, but seems like you're getting 13 figures in the FSS for the price you'd pay for 7 or 8 outside. So unless you only want half or less of the FSS figures, it pays to subscribe. |
