Pretty much everything Jmacq said, but I also want to add in that Hasbro was very forthcoming about the Data Viper being cancelled, and why it was cancelled.

Hasbro usually brings pretty decent stuff to the Con, and with the shutdown of the Q&As, if you take away the Con, then basically the only time of the year we'd get any information on Joe is Toy Fair. So basically if you're saying "Hasbro shouldn't go to the Con" you're basically saying Hasbro should communicate less with us, not more.

The great thing about this hobby is it transends generations. I got my first GI Joe in 1968 and have been hooked ever since. My kids grew up with GI joe and my grand kids love playing with my extra joes. http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...veing-fun.html Hope to see you at Joes 75th anneversary con in 26 years, |

I wouldn't necessarily disagree. It just sounded like your initial statement was kind of at cross-purposes in that regard.
As others have mentioned, we've long since lost that sense of wonder when you wander into a toy aisle and find the new stuff that you literally had not seen before. When you devour the cardback to see who else is out there...where you puzzle over those silhouetted figures trying to discern any detail that might tell you more about them. I think the last time something even close to that happened was when the first wave of Resolute figures hit without having ever been shown (though even then there was some warning they were coming due to retailer computer finds). |

My biggest issue with these threads, and it's not to dis regard anyones opinion, is the portrayal of Hasbro's decisions as concrete mismanagement and lack of customer care.
The fact is unless someone works in the toy industry, they do not have the body of buisness knowledge required to state these things as fact. We really have no idea what their market concerns are or any of the factors required to successfully run a toy manufacturing company. Again, I sincerely do not mean to denigrate anyones opinion or view. If someone feels Hasbro doesnt care about their personal interest as a consumer, thats their valid feeling, but it's not enough to state "Hasbro doesnt care, they dont know what they are doing, etc" as fact. I worked as a senior operations manager for Chuck E Cheese for 10 years and it was very frustrating hearing customers constantly declaring "we dont care, we make enough money to have lower prices" or a myriad of other negatives they felt they knew as fact. None of these people posessed ANY of the information necesary to validly state those claims. It was their right as paying customers if they felt that was the case, but they have no foundation to declare that as more than opinion. Believe me, if they had to deal with the store financials at what I was payed for one month they would have closed their mouths a long time ago. In my opinion there is too much of this sort of negativity on the internet across the board for all things that posess a distinct fan base. It personally ruins my enjoyment of the internet aspect, where ideally I should find greater opportunity to share my passions with like minded people. At some point companies will stop caring or concerning themselves with the interest of those they can't seem to possibly satisfy, then we will all wish we had been a little more realistic in our evaluations and our knowledgebase. |
