Lets hear some cool Christmas Joe stories.
My best one is Christmas 86. I found my treasured Night Raven hidden in my mom's bedroom trunk. One day when I was left alone I took it out of the box and went outside in the snow and played with it for a few hours! I carefully took it back apart and put it back in the box when I was finished. The best part of the story was Christmas morning when I opened it, water ran out of the cockpit onto the carpet! Much to my shock nobody noticed and I was safe. I kept that story with me for twenty or so years. I told my mom a few years back, and we both laughed our butts off. I still have that Night Raven and it means the world to me because of that memory.

My best Joe Christmas was probably 1985. I knew I was getting the WHALE and the Rattler that year, 2 of my all time favorite vehicles. I was so excited I couldn't sleep, so I got up very early, found the Rattler, and started assembling it. Later, after all the presents were done, my parents gave me the WHALE. I know they weren't happy that I'd been up all night, so that was the last time I ever did that. I still snooped for a while though. It's more fun to be surprised as an adult than as a kid.

I remember going to Kmart and seeing the MCC, you could see them behind the jewelry dept on the top shelf, Dad telling Dad about it, and getting we will see and money talk. For some reason that memory has stuck with me. Then to my surprise it was there Christmas Morning. Also, my sister bought me a STUN and Twins with money from her first job. She work at JcPenny and pretty sure they came from there.

So I had never really gotten any big Gi Joe toys up until 85. When I opened up that Rattler and then follwed it with a dragonfly, I couldn't believe it. My mom had also found one of the hardest figs to find back then (Alpine) and he was tucked in a box of clothes along with a crimson guard and Eels. Many Joe adventures followed that Christmas morning!

I can remember peeling back the tape on a present and seeing what I thought was the cobra hydrofoil but two weeks later to my disapointment it was the tactical battle platform. I never snooped again.

My mom and dad fled thier country cause of civil war, they came to the United States when she got prego with me. In thier country male children are all forced into military service. Also the military training and effectivness there is a joke. So not wanting her son to be killed by guerillas or kidnaped by cartel goons they left thier home, professions and family behind. Ofcourse then I grow up and fall in love with G.I. Joe. All I ever wanted was Joe toys. It didnt help that it was military stuff and my parents being completely out of tune with American culture thought it was plain wrong so Christmas after Christmas would go by and never any Joe stuff. One year in 92 my dad got me a huge box for Christmas and I could not for the life of me figure out what it was. He bought me Joes like once or twice a year whenever I did something extremely desserving but it was always a figure or a tiny vehicle. I dont think I ever had more then 6 vehicles as a kid so imagine when I open that up and find the 92 Joe Headquarters! It blew my mind! I didnt even have enough Joe toys to fully staff it even if I threw in all my Cobra figures. It was amazing! I was 11 at the time. It took my dad 11 years to come around this whole thing that playing army men does not turn your kid into a murdering lunatic.
I have since over compensated for the lack of joes as a child by buying every damn Joe thing I find now as an adult. Thanks for the complex mom and dad!

My sister was the one who spoiled me when i was young she was a bit older and on Christmas of 82 she got me every Gi Joe thing except the cobra cardboard base. I was in heaven and was the first kid to attach to the whole gi joe thing. It came as a direct result of my reading comic books. I got issue #12 off the rack with snake eyes, Dr venom and Kwinn stuck in the bunker under the lake. I was hooked from that moment on. Every kid in the neighborhood soon abandon star wars and Gi Joe was the favorite for every kid in Old bridge New Jersey. fast forward to 85 i think and every kid in the neighborhood was stupid with excitement. who will get the FLAGG? Jason, Wade, Leslie, me? I couldn't sleep. the next morning I didn't get it. My mother and sister got em everything else practically but not the FLAGG. I was so disappointed. a few minuets later the phone rang it was jason. I GOT IT!!!! he screamed. I wanted to see it so bad i nealy abandon christmas all together and ran to his house. but i had to wait. slowly two other boys made their way to my house and we all bundled up to travel over to jasons. the snow was like 5 feet and we were not letting it stop us. it took us over an hour to walk a few blocks. when we got there jasons mom had of course been wating for us all to arrive like arctic explorers. carring our new gi joe christmas toys over our heads. we must have looked funny three little kids popping up and down out of the snow holding huge toy boxes over our heads. we got there and had a great time. Jason's dad got frustrated because he wasn't even done building the damn thing. we took over building it to Jason's terror. he was sure we were going to misplace the stickers. eventually we got it all together and played all day long. We didn't want to leave. we slept there and never when home the next day either. Jason's mom hosted us for three days straight only going home to change my clothes and bring more Joes to his house. we played till we passed out 1am, 4am, we never argued, the colecovision went completely unused, we just read gi joe comics and ate grill cheese and drank hot coco. It was the best three days a kid could ask for.
