1985, getting the Battle Platform and Moray, then reinacting issue #40 of the Marvel comic, and my parents not knowing the correlation.

Hooking my son up with the Conquest of Cobra Mountain playset when it came out. We had many epic battles fighting over control of that base!!

Christmas 1992 was a big one for me. My dad had just received a promotion and raise that he had waited years for, and he went all out for me and my younger siblings. I got all of the Star Brigade Armor figures, the Armor Bot, the Starfighter IIRC, and the Joe headquarters. We were used to very modest Christmas mornings, so I was incredibly grateful and stoked beyond belief. I have almost all of those toys to this day, and I thanked my parents again today for that Christmas.

I think it was the Christmas Eve of 1986 when I came home from my grandparents' house to find a "Trooper Dome Fun Hut" tent set up in my bedroom with a sleeping bag, Watch Tower, Snow Cat, and a Stun all inside. JACKPOT! I do believe it was the largest GI Joe "haul" of my childhood other than the "epic" trading between my best friend and I. The tent didn't last long as I remember. The poles weren't all that durable and broke rather easy. My best friend and I camped in the yard a few times and played plenty in that thing.
I recently started a thread for favorite GI Joe related stories. It can be found here.... http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...periences.html |

Probably Christmas 1985, coming downstairs and seeing all the toys from Santa on the deck of the USS Flagg.
My mom always tells that story because I was upset that Santa put the Hydrofoil on the Flagg since it was a boat and it was Cobra, so it should not be there. Also got the TTBP that day, one of my favorite playsets. Also, it took Santa all night to put it together I'm told. |
