My sister was the one who spoiled me when i was young she was a bit older and on Christmas of 82 she got me every Gi Joe thing except the cobra cardboard base. I was in heaven and was the first kid to attach to the whole gi joe thing. It came as a direct result of my reading comic books. I got issue #12 off the rack with snake eyes, Dr venom and Kwinn stuck in the bunker under the lake. I was hooked from that moment on. Every kid in the neighborhood soon abandon star wars and Gi Joe was the favorite for every kid in Old bridge New Jersey. fast forward to 85 i think and every kid in the neighborhood was stupid with excitement. who will get the FLAGG? Jason, Wade, Leslie, me? I couldn't sleep. the next morning I didn't get it. My mother and sister got em everything else practically but not the FLAGG. I was so disappointed. a few minuets later the phone rang it was jason. I GOT IT!!!! he screamed. I wanted to see it so bad i nealy abandon christmas all together and ran to his house. but i had to wait. slowly two other boys made their way to my house and we all bundled up to travel over to jasons. the snow was like 5 feet and we were not letting it stop us. it took us over an hour to walk a few blocks. when we got there jasons mom had of course been wating for us all to arrive like arctic explorers. carring our new gi joe christmas toys over our heads. we must have looked funny three little kids popping up and down out of the snow holding huge toy boxes over our heads. we got there and had a great time. Jason's dad got frustrated because he wasn't even done building the damn thing. we took over building it to Jason's terror. he was sure we were going to misplace the stickers. eventually we got it all together and played all day long. We didn't want to leave. we slept there and never when home the next day either. Jason's mom hosted us for three days straight only going home to change my clothes and bring more Joes to his house. we played till we passed out 1am, 4am, we never argued, the colecovision went completely unused, we just read gi joe comics and ate grill cheese and drank hot coco. It was the best three days a kid could ask for.

^^^ That's the kind of story most of us can relate to as we had similar experiences: coming together and sharing the excitement with friends over GI Joe. Good times!

I don't have any Joe stories that epic, but I definitely remember the "Joe get-togethers" my buddy Anthony, Shane, and I used to have back in '85/'86. Good times, indeed. ....oh, and LOL at "Colecovision"! That certainly places that story in time, doesn't it?! Last edited by Cobra Terrorist; 12-27-2012 at 07:10 PM.. |

In December of '85 my day would play the lottery scratch tickets and he gave me one to scratch of which I won $100 dollars from it.
But yeah of course my dad said that was too much money for a 9 year old so he gave me a bit of that money and with it I got the G.I.Joe Snow Cat. Buuuut on Christmas Eve another present was waiting for me, not exactly G.I.Joe but I got the M.A.S.K. Boulder Hill playset and Rhino tractor rig. |

Christmas 92 Comes to mind. I was nine years old. I remember recieveing Star Brigade Armour Troops: Duke, Destro, Rock&Roll, Roadblock, Hawk W/the Armour bot, the AH-74 Electronic Apache, and some non-armoured Star brigade troops including Barricade (Orange Version). I had fun that morning.

Well, I am 40 as of Dec 21st. I have a LOT of Joe stories, but I have to admit this year was one of the best. About a year ago, I FINALLY bought a used FLAGG, and assembled the missing pieces through e-bay. I had NO place to display it. I found a beautiful display case, that it would just fit its base, so I could set it on top and display my vintage Joes underneath. As many people are this time o year, my money had been tight, and I wanted to make sure my daughters had EVERYTHING on their list so I had decided to forfeit the $70.00 I had put down in layaway for the case, as my layaway time was up. I also had a lady offered to sell me some 89-90 vintage joes that I really needed for my collection at a great price that I also had to pass on. On Christmas eve, my fiancie told me we had to go pick up a bed she had bought for my daughter's room. We loaded up, and drove out, and to my surprise we pulled into the store where I had the display case laid away at. Figuring it long gone, I was like, great, of ALL places. When we walked in, the case was waiting to be loaded in our vehicle, she ha paid it off. Later that evening, I got the joes I had passé on as well....
