Totally agree! 3 of the 6 walmarts in my area have reduced their toy area to 2 or 3 aisles and thats it. Hell the Big Lots in my area have more toys than those walmarts. It is crazy.

They bought out Zellers closest to me which had the best toy selection around, the new Walmart has the worst.

Walmart doesn’t want to sell toys. They are done with that. They want to own everything and tell you what you should and should not buy. They also want to control pricing.
They are the real world Extensive Enterprises. |

Walgreens doesn't have the selection (and until recently, significantly higher priced), and Hastings skew to collector tastes (in an area without enough collectors to absorb the "kid centric" products like the upteenth Iron Man or Captain America 3.75 figure). My ENTIRE half asile of toys consists of: Beyblades WWE Star Wars Dark Knight/Batman Transformers Power Rangers Toy Story 3 (a few remnants, anyway) The Corps Avengers Spider-Man (and they've filled in the last two areas with a bunch of Wreck-It Ralph merchandise they probably took off a pallet display) The other side is Lego product. I would have to drive an HOUR to find a larger Walmart, and almost THREE to get to a Target or TRU. Has Walmart given up? Yeah, they have, because they've WON the toy wars. Today, Walmart accounts for more toys sales than their next two competitors COMBINED. In the HUGE number of "one store towns" like mine, Walmart basically controls what that area sees in a LOT of product areas, like toys. Because of their pull, they can largely dictate the "set price" for many items as well. Hasbro didn't want to sell GI Joe 25th for $4.88, Walmart did that due to lack of faith in the brand. But because Walmart is so massive, people take their prices as gospel (even if it hurts the brand). That is largely the reason I've been so negative in threads where people hark about Walmart not supporting Joe: they really never have, and trying to "make" Walmart support GI Joe I don't believe is healthy for the brand (and a huge waste of energy with online). Steelgrave, my local store is basically cleaned out of Transformers (Bumblebees and all), which doesn't surprise me at all because, y'know, it's FIVE DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS YA IDJIT! It's pretty much pointless to go "toy hunting" from Black Friday to New Years, as every parent, grandparent, aunt/uncle and everyone in between are buying toys for presents. (And given prior posts, I don't think it is AS bad as you claim, but bear in mind that I worked a couple Christmas seasons at Walmart, and more than a few times the action figure section would be cleaned out...only for us to completely refill it that night. And do so several times)
