Anyone know of any reference to Spirit's character regarding which Native American tribe he's ffrom?
Might there have been some mention of it from the comic?

I think his file card indicates he is from Taos, New Mexico, so I think he would likely be Taos speaking of the Pueblo people. Just my best estimation.

I always thought he was an Apache. His filecards are a bit confusing... I think in one filecard they listed that he was from Grand Canyon, AZ.

There may have been some vague references to where he was from but I doubt that an actual tribe was ever named due to the legal complexities involved with that.
Half the Battle: 1984 Characters he is listed as a Pueblo tribe member here but if you go through the filecards it is never mentioned what tribe he is from. The same was done for the wrestler "Tatanka" the WWF (back then) never gave him an actual tribe. Too much of a chance of a tribe suing for defamation of character etc etc.
