With the release of IDW's G.I. Joe #1 next wednesday, a new era of G.I. Joe comic books is dawning upon us! In anticipation of this book's release we look back at two titans who once held the G.I. Joe comic book license; Marvel Comics & Devils Due Press(DDP). Both have dedicated fans, while some like both, many prefer one over the other. Hated Snake Eyes' many appearances? Loved the Red Shadows? Hated how they killed Lady Jaye? Think some of the deaths were relevant? Shock value? Pushed the story forward? Loved when there wasn't as many ninjas? All in all......

Come on no contest! I liked Devil's Due, it was fun to see everyone there, but the Marvel run, I should say Hama's run, THAT WAS GI JOE! It captured the imagine and is still just as relevant today reading it.

Marvel wins by a landslide. DDP's series was entirely forgettable. IDW can't be any worse.

Definitely Marvel! I gave DDP a chance 4 times over the years and just couldn't get into it. I even collected America's Elite from 0 until about 31. I recently re-read my Marvel issues and they are SO good. I do like DDP's Snake Eyes Declassified and G.I. Joe Declassified.

i would say ddp but only becouse the ddp comic was not product driven. i mean you could tell every time a new joe toy line came out with marvel. all the old joes would just disappear and all the new ones would take over the comic.

This makes the Marvel run even better. It was product driven but Hama was still able to continually craft amazing stories with an ever changing cast. What TV series can do that?

I liked the Devil's Due run better. It's wasn't as product driven and Flint got pretty interesting after Lady Jay died.

i dont think its a fair question. ive read most of tha america's elite series, im still missin two issues of tha last arc and im still collectin tha marvel run. but my point is tha marvel run was longer, larry hama actually worked on it, plus u have to account for tha timing of when tha runs occurred. but thats just my opinion.

I voted Marvel. Without Hama's great run, there is no DDP run. But I liked some of the stuff DDP did.
***self high five!!*** Let's see who get's that one, lol.
